On August 14, bright exhibitions and fairs demonstrating were enveloped everlasting generosity of native land were enveloped in all cities and villages of the country on occasion of the Day of Turkmen melon. Huge pyramids of golden melons, looking like thousands of small stars from the sky, occupied squares and parks. Performances of different artists, folk bands and pop singers took places at music halls and open concert stages.
The award ceremony of the best melon grower became the culmination of the events for day of Turkmen melon.
Switching over to other events, it worth mentioning that preterm voting for election of deputies of Mejlis, members of Halk Maslahaty and gengeshies has started on August 11. In accordance with Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, this procedure is stipulated for the citizens travelling for extended period to business trip or vacation as well as for those who are not able by some reason to attend polling station to vote for most deserving candidate on the day of election – August 21.
There are few competitors per one place in all electoral districts what provides alternative of elections. Candidates and their principles are given with equal opportunities for agitation work and meeting with the electorate including pre-election sessions, meetings and in mass media.
Farmers of the country prepare actively for forthcoming important agricultural campaign – the sowing of winter crops. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution directing the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management to sow the wheat for 2017 harvest on allocated areas and provide this harvest in according volume together with hyakimliks of the velayats based on the contracts with farmers’ associations, agricultural enterprises, renters and proprietors.
24th anniversary of formation of Border Guard Forces of Turkmenistan was celebrated last week. Demonstration military tactical exercises “Hazar – 2016”, where Navy, Air and Air Defence Forces of Turkmenistan, detachments of State Border Guard Service, Ministry of National Security, Ministry of Internal Affairs and other types of military forces took part, were conducted in south-east part of the Caspian Sea on the day before the holiday.
Conducted demonstrative military and tactical exercises demonstrated high defence capability of national Armed Forces and level of combat training of personnel, skills of military personnel in operation of most advanced military equipment.
National tourist zone “Avaza” became visual result of progressive policy led by president Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov aimed at consolidation of economic power, international authority of the motherland and improvement of wellbeing of Turkmen people. There, fashionable hotels, children’s recreation centres, infrastructure facilities, cottages and villas for family vacations, sport and entertainment centres are being built.
Today, “Avaza” is embodiment of original national traditions of good neighbourhood, friendliness and hospitality. Not only our compatriots but also guests from different countries including group of children from Ukraine had pleasant holidays there in this year.

The Day of the Caspian Sea was observed in National tourist zone on August 12. This action, which is held every year, is aimed at broad popularization of long-term perspective oriented nature protection policy of Turkmenistan among the population as well as consolidation and expansion of international cooperation in ecological sphere, creation of conditions for universal sustainable development.
In accordance with the Resolution of Head of the State Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the holiday was organized by the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, State Committee for Nature Protection and Land Resources, State Enterprise for the Caspian Sea under the President of Turkmenistan and Hyakimlik of Balkan velayat. Its programme includes scientific and practical conference “25th Anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan: Achievements in protection of marine environment of the Caspian Sea”, where Ecologists, leaders and specialists of nature protection agencies, branch departments, whose activity related with the Caspian Sea took part in the conference. Representatives of diplomatic missions of Caspian states accredited in our country as well as international organizations including the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), World Bank and others were among the guests of the conference.
Generally, Events of the last week displayed again the priorities of internal and foreign policy of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov – open door policy and large-scale transformations aimed at further dynamic social and economic development of the country, improvement of wellbeing of our people.
