On August 21, Turkmenistan holds elections of Mejlis deputies, members of the Khalk maslahaty and Gengesh to replace those left

On this day, the citizens of our country, having entitled their constitutional right will visit the polls to cast their votes for the most deserving and authoritative representatives of the nation, those ones who have earned the respect and confidence of the compatriots. The election campaigning will end, on August 20.

There will be totally elected 7 Mejlis deputies, 34 members of Khalk maslahaty and 122 members of Gengesh from all over Turkmenistan. In this regard, there are 163 districts and 359 polling stations.

District election commissions will operate on 21 August from 7 to 19 hours. Within 10 days before the primary election day of the citizens of Turkmenistan, who on this day for whatever reasons will not be in the place of residence, are granted the right to vote ahead of schedule.

According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, the polling stations are fully ready for operation.

To the trust mandate for each constituency stand for several candidates which is a vivid evidence of holding the alternative nature of the elections. Their nominations are carried out by Democratic Party, Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, Agrarian Party and Public Organizations. The groups of citizens nominate the candidates proposed by General Meeting of voters living in the territory of constituency.

As stated the participants of pre-election campaigns of voters, thanks to pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov socially-oriented policy in Turkmenistan it is successfully carried out extensive work on the democratization of social and political life of the country, establishment of civil society institutions, improvement of the political system in accordance with modern requirements. With this aim, it is adopted the Law of Turkmenistan "On political parties", which have become the reflection of the effective steps taken to implement the guaranteed political rights of our citizens.

Today, there are three political parties which have made a worthy contribution to conduct elections on a broad democratic principle. Mejlis of Turkmenistan comprising from representatives of all three political parties which is contributing to the accumulation of constructive experience of political parties’ interaction.

All stages of the election campaign, within the framework of which each candidate has the opportunity to meet with voters, are carried out in a timely manner, strictly in accordance with the current legislation of Turkmenistan and generally accepted norms of international law.

Observation of the electoral process in all districts, in all polling stations, as well as the forthcoming elections on Sunday will provide a group of national observers from among the representatives of socio-political organizations of the country.

According to national observers, who conduct monitoring for the progress of all stages of the electoral process: the election campaign was in compliance with the principle of competition of candidates having had equal opportunity to familiarize voters with the items of their election programs.
