Having implemented monitoring of the elections, the observers consider that this election has become another important step towards strengthening the democratic foundations of the Turkmen society’s life. This is an important socio-political event, clearly demonstrated the active participation of the Turkmen people in the state affairs in the name of happy future of the country and the people.
The citizens, who are the most worthy, highly respected and trusted among their nationals nominate to exercise their rights in order to represent their constituency in the national Parliament and in the institutions of local government. The candidates consist of toilers of settlements, representatives of state institutions, leading specialists of various industries, workers of spheres of economy, education, science, culture, health, activists of political parties, public organizations and associations. For one position of Mejlis deputy, member of Khalk maslahaty and Gengesh have been registered several candidates, so, today's election, like all the previous ones are held on a wide alternative basis in line with the principles of democracy and openness.
As is known, today's election is preceded the extensive preparatory work. In particular, it is registered 15 candidates for the members of velayat Khalk maslahaty and 63 - etraps and cities Khalk maslahaty, 266 –the members of Gengesh and 14 candidates for the position of Mejlis deputy, the promotion of which was initiated by the political parties, public organizations and associations, as well as groups of citizens.
According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan in accordance with the set voting time within the territory of constituencies, all polling stations are simultaneously opened. Of those, 43 in Ashgabat, 35 - in Akhal, 26- in Balkan, 52 - in Dashoguz, 114 - in Lebap, 89 - in Mary regions.
To participate 173 thousand 438 voters are registered to vote for the elections of Mejlis deputies. The employees of the Central Electoral Commission are recorded in total: according to election of members of velayats Khalk maslahaty - 95 thousand 393 voters, according to the elections of etraps and cities Khalk maslahaty - 64 thousand 389 voters; according to the election of members of Gengesh – 39 thousand 502 voters.
The first half of the voting day has been observed with particular intensity. By the afternoon, more than 50 percent of voters fulfill their constitutional rights.
According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda in Turkmenistan, by the time the polls are closed, i.e by 19 pm in the evening, 92.12 per cent of electorates take part in the elections of Mejlis deputies, members of velayat Khalk maslahaty - 91.74 percent, etraps and cities Khalk maslahaty - 91.66 per cent, while the members of Gengesh - 90.97 percent. In the elections of members of Gengesh of the city Garabogaz of Turkmenbashi district of Balkan region are 91.14 percent of voters.
According to the presented data of the Central Election Committee, the elections declared valid.
In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the election results will be announced in the nearest future.
