Ambassador of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka accredited in Turkmenistan

On behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of Mejlis Akja Nurberdyeva acceptes the credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Turkmenistan Mr. Y.K.A. Rohanajith.

On behalf of the Turkmen leader, head of the National Parliament congratulates the guest on the beginning of the diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan and wishes success in strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation between two nations. Expressing gratitude for good wishes, Ambassador conveys to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Turkmen people the warm greetings and best wishes from the top management of the country.

In the course of the meeting, the diplomat is informed about the main directions of state policy of Turkmenistan, an important role in the development of which is given to fruitful relations with all countries of the world and major international organizations. Special accent is made on large-scale social policy, economic programs and investment projects aimed at steady growth of welfare of the Turkmen people, pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

One of the topics of the meeting is the activity of Mejlis of Turkmenistan to improve the national legal and regulatory framework in the context of the ongoing comprehensive reform.

Having impressed the dynamic pace of development of modern Turkmenistan, Mr. Y.K.A. Rohanajith stresses that Sri Lanka appreciates policy of broad international cooperation pursued by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. In its frames, it has won high authority in the world community. Ambassador stressed that close cooperation between the two countries both in bilateral format and within international organizations, particularly by the United Nations, will serve the interests of global peace, stability and prosperity.

During the meeting it is also stressed the importance of establishing close inter-parliamentary, cultural and humanitarian ties.

In the course of the visit to Ashgabat, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Turkmenistan is received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The meeting is focused on issues of bilateral interstate cooperation of mutual interest.

Prospects for expansion of cooperation in trade and economic, sport and tourism, oil and gas and other spheres have become a major topic of discussion during the meetings held by Mr. Y.K.A. Rohanajith in a number of ministries and departments.

In the framework of the cultural program of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Turkmenistan is familiarized with the sightseeing of the capital.
