President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received recently appointed Head of Representative Office of the UN Children Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan Shaheen Nilofer, who presented her credentials to the Leader of the Nation.
Having expressed her gratitude for the opportunity of personal meeting, the guest conveyed warm greetings and best wishes of Executive Director of the UNICEF Antony Lake to the Head of the State, having confirmed keen interest of the UN Children Fund in further development of traditionally fruitful dialog with Turkmenistan. Shaheen Nilofer noted that it is great honour for her to work in our country, which occupies initiative position in international cooperation that meets common target of universal wellbeing.
Greeting the guest and having congratulated her with appointment on responsible position, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that cooperation with the United Nations Organization and its largest specialized structures is one of the key vectors of foreign policy course of neutral Turkmenistan. In this relation, the Head of the State noted with delight that recently, close partnership was established between our country and the UNICEF, under which number of joint projects and programmes in different spheres have been successfully realized and are being implemented.
In continuation of the meeting, the Leader of the Nation and the guest exchanged the visions on priority directions of years old bilateral cooperation and perspectives of further accumulation in the context of common goals and purposes. The Country Action Plan Programme for Cooperation between the Government of Turkmenistan and the UN Children Fund for 2016 – 2020 signed in March of this year is practical guidance for this. It was mentioned during the conversation that our country demonstrates serious and responsible approach to provision of optimum favourable conditions for comprehensive development of growing generation, care about health and happiness of which is one of the most important directions of the state policy.
Targeted measures undertaken for improvement of national legislation in this field are visual evidence to this. Having joined basic international legal documents in this sphere including to The UN Convention of the Right of Child and others, Turkmenistan practically demonstrate invariable adherence to undertaken obligations.
System of maternity and childhood protection received huge government support in our country, big work for improvement of health of young citizens, creation of all conditions for their high quality education and harmonic upbringing, involvement in physical training and sports, realization of their creative abilities and talents is carried out. Modern schools and kindergartens, medical and sport facilities, provided with modern equipment and advanced technologies, have been built and are being under construction in Turkmenistan. Beautiful children recreation centres, located in picturesque Gyokdere, National tourist zone “Avaza” at the Caspian Coast and other regions of the country, are at disposal of the children.
The UNICEF highly esteems the achievements of Turkmenistan in this field, which are bright evidence of social orientation of the state policy lead by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and progressive reforms initiated by the Turkmen Leader for provision of prosperous and happy life of the people.
