Visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the FRG is accomplished

On August 30, the programme of working visit of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Federal Republic of Germany was accomplished. Its outcomes became visual evidence of adherence of the sides to constructive interstate dialog, mutual focus on maximum realization of potential of Turkmen – German cooperation, willingness to give new stimulus and content to it.

As it was reported, bilateral negotiations at high level was held on the day before in Berlin, during which President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel confirmed mutual interests of the sides to bring traditional partnership to new stage of development meeting modern realities. In this context, the Head of the State and the Head of the Federal Government of the FRG discussed key directions of cooperation, built with account of long-term perspective.

Such strategy is based of impressive potential of bilateral cooperation on broad spectrum of directions, which implementation would serve for common sake. Steadily developing trade and economic relations are bright indicators of high level of relations between two states. Turkmenistan sees Germany as one of its leading partners. In its turn, the FRG expressed keen interest to intensification of efficient cooperation with our country, what is indicated by established business contacts with largest representatives of German business.

It is remarkable that German companies was one of the first which entered Turkmen market where successfully work for many years in different spheres, what gives evidence that favourable investment conditions are established in our country. Large-scale reformation programmes and important infrastructural projects open broad opportunities for accumulation of productive cooperation in this field in Turkmenistan, which took the course industrialization, diversification of economy, innovative development and active integration into modern system of the world economy.

Currently, 167 investment projects are registered in Turkmenistan with German participation. Enterprises of non-government sector of the economy of our country with participation of German capital are involved in such fields as mining industry and quarries development, processing production, construction, trade and service as well as in the sphere of scientific and technical activity. There are representatives of «Berlin-Chemie», «Basf», «INROS LACKNER», «Lufthansa Cargo», branches of «Wintershall Holding », «RWE», «MAN Ferrostaal» and others among them.

German companies bring considerable input into relaization of long-term projects in our country. Years-old and efficient activity in Turkmenistan of such companies as «Siemens AG», «Daimler», «Claas», «Rohde & Schwarz», «Dresser-Rand» as well as range of other companies are among them.

Days of Turkmenistan Economy held in Germany and Days of German Economy in our country serve as positive factor in consolidation of mutually beneficial partnership. It worth mentioning that “Turkmenistan – Germany: Day of Innovative Technologies”, aimed at activation of bilateral cooperation in this sphere, has been held in May of this year in German city Walldorf.

During press-conference held on August 29 in Berlin, Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel stated with delight the productiveness of conducted negotiations with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, indicating the focus of the sides on further intensive development of the partnership.

The Federal Chancellor also informed that subject of democratic processes, which are characterized by positive tendencies, was touched in the course of the meeting. Programme of activities in human rights field and appointment of ombudsman – Authorized Representative for human rights, are visual examples there. It was also noted that German side welcomes work undertaken in Turkmenistan for reformation of the Constitution in the context of common standards of international law and with account of relative world practice.

The Head of the Federal Government of the FRG highlighted active character of the partnership of Turkmenistan with the OSCE where Germany chairs currently and noted the constructiveness of cooperation between Turkmen side and German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) underlined considerable contribution of Turkmenistan in peaceful revival of neighbouring Afghanistan.

In his turn, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking to numerous representatives of mass media, emphasized that development of cooperation with European Union, which was considerably activated recently, is one of the priorities of the foreign policy of Turkmenistan. In this context, Turkmen Leader highlighted that the sides reached understanding in realization of the plans of the partnership with the EU, fulfilment of achieved agreements, entering new perspective projects in different spheres.

The President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the negotiations demonstrated mutual willingness to render comprehensive support and assistance to development of all forms of trade and economic cooperation and production cooperation, establishment of conditions for joint activity in realization of new large-scale projects in our country with participation of German companies. The activity of Turkmen – German Working Group for economic partnership is an important component of joint efforts in this direction.

Large perspectives for joint activity are present in energy and transport spheres, in high technology area, banking, medical industry and other fields. During the negotiations, the sides stated the presence of potential for growth and diversification of trade turnover. Opportunities of close cooperation of entrepreneurship structures of both countries, their participation in joint investment activity were discussed as well. The Head of the State mentioned that most favourable conditions are created for this in Turkmenistan and the country would welcome more active participation of the German business in development of national economy and service sphere. The Leader of the Nation said that our country in its turn also interested in expansion of Turkmen business in Germany.

At the same day, under the working visit to the FRG, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held number of bilateral meetings including with State Parliament Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy of Germany Uwe Beckmeyer, Vice-president of «Siemens AG» company, President of the company for Russia Dietrich Muller and Executive Deirector for Energy and Gas of «Siemens AG» Willy Meiksner, Member of Directors’ Board of «Deutsche Bank AG», Chief Financial Officer Marcus Schenck, Executive Director for Central and Eastern Europe of Deutsche Bank Frankfurt Peter Tilles and Senior Advisor Deutsche Bank AG Jürgen Fitschen, President of “SAP” company for Central and Eastern Europe Stefan Hoechbauer, President and General Director of “Cifal Group” company Gilles Remy and the founder of international engineering company of “ILF Consulting Engineering” Adolf Pheitzelmayer. Vice-president of «Airbus Group» for international relations Marouane Laud and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of «Cargolux» company Maxim Strauss.

Turkmen – German forum held in Berlin, which main purpose was definition of new approaches to bilateral cooperation, specification of most advantageous directions of development of trade and economic relations, business connections and scientific and technical partnership, became vivid evidence of potential growth of mutually beneficial relations between Turkmenistan and Germany. Deputies Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and heads of key departments of Turkmenistan and Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of our country took part at request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the meeting held in “Maritime” hotel. German side was represented by the members of the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy, Eastern Committee of German Economy, Trade and Industrial Chamber and other structures, heads of banks and more than 100 companies working in banking sphere, energy, mechanical engineering, oil and gas, construction material, chemical industry, agriculture, public health, science and education, transport and communication, trade, tourism, culture and publishing.

Besides, Memorandum on cooperation in educational sphere between Turkmen Agricultural University named after S. A. Niyazov and «Umax Trade GmbH» company from the FRG, Memorandum of Understanding between Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D. Azadi and Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (FRG), Memorandum on Cooperation in Agricultural and Water Management Technology between the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Turkmenistan and «Umax Trade GmbH» company, Memorandum of Understanding between State Concern “Turkmengas” and «ILF Beratende Ingenieure GmbH» company under partnership with «CIFAL GROUPE Deutsehland GmbH», Memorandum of Understanding between State Concern “Turkmengas” and «Siemens Aktiengesellschaft» company were signed during the visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Germany.

Another file of documents, 13 memoranda and agreements were signed during the business forum by members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan and partner company of the FRG what indicates growing potential of private sector of economy of our country.

It worth mentioning that at the same day, by the request of the Head of the State, the members of the government delegation of Turkmenistan held bilateral meetings in Berlin with the heads of relative ministries and departments of the FRG, largest banks and companies including «Deutsche Bank», «Commerzbank», «Claas», «Zeppelin», «Bosch Gruppe», «Umax Trade GmbH», «Siemens AG», «Hospitalia International GmbH» and others. Negotiations with representatives of the management of world famous foreign companies as «John Deere» and «Airbus Group» have been also held. Besides, bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of number of leading institutions of high education and culture have been conducted.

In the morning, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov proceeded from his residence in fashionable «Adlon Kempinski» hotel to «Tegel» International Airport, from where he left for the Motherland. The high ranking guest was seen off by the government officials.
