President of Turkmenistan receives Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, H.E. Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahmanabin bin Jassim Al-Thani.

Thanking the head of the state for the opportunity to discuss in person topical issues of bilateral cooperation, the guest conveyed the leader of the nation greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Emir of Qatar H.E Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani. According to H.E.Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahmanabin bin Jassim Al-Thani, in his country there is a keen interest of the progress of the ongoing enormous reforms in Turkmenistan, which is undergoing on the initiative of the head of state, and sincerely admired of the Turkmen people’s achievements.

Welcoming the Foreign Minister of the friendly country, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed the best wishes to the Emir of the State and to all nation of Qatar. As stated the Turkmen leader, Turkmenistan attaches great importance to strengthening the traditional ties and enhancing fruitful bilateral relations.

During the meeting the Turkmen leader and his guest kindly noted achieved in recent years, the high level of the intergovernmental dialogue, which is based on a mutually beneficial partnership and traditions of friendship and exchanged views on the status and priority directions of cooperation. As stressed, a strong impetus to boosting Turkmen-Qatari partnership given the agreements reached at the highest level on the basis of an official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's visit to the State of Qatar in October 2010, as well as the official visit of the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to Turkmenistan in March of the year.

Noting the existence of broad prospects and solid potential for the further development of trade-economic relations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and H.E.Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahmanabin bin Jassim Al-Thani called for intensifying fruitful partnership in various sectors. One of the key vectors of interstate relations was named oil and gas sector. In this context, it was emphasized that two countries, as recognized by the energy power and one of the leading exporters of natural gas, attach particular importance to the diversification of cooperation in this strategic sector.

Among the perspective areas of Turkmen-Qatari cooperation were stated investment, trade, technology, construction and other relevant sectors. By underlying the actuality of initiated by the Turkmen leader in the international projects on the establishment of extensive infrastructure of transport communications, the head of state of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar expressed his country's interest in its implementation.

Having emphasized the need for a comprehensive development of bilateral relations in the humanitarian sphere, the Turkmen leader and his guest agreed for intensifying contacts in the field of education, science, health, culture, as well as tourism and sports lines, the development of which is an essential factor in the dynamic development of any country of the world. According to H.E.Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdulrahmanabin bin Jassim Al-Thani, the adoption of the Asian Olympic Council decision to hold in Ashgabat V Asian Indoor Games and Martial Arts in 2017 is a clear indication that Turkmenistan makes a worthy contribution to the development of the international Olympic movement. Having expressed the confidence in the success of the upcoming sporting events designed to increase the prestige of our country on the world stage, the guest expressed readiness of the State of Qatar to offer their expertise and provide all possible assistance to the organization of Asian Games-2017.

Upon concluding of the meeting Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister of the friendly country expressed confidence in further expansion of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar in Turkmenistan Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Suwaidi.
