President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Turkmenistan Tkahiko Katsumata, who presented the copies of his credentials.
Having expressed sincere gratitude for spared time, the diplomat conveyed warm greetings of Emperor Akihito and Prime minister of Japan Shinzō Abe, who addressed all Turkmen people wishes of wellbeing and successes. The Ambassador highlighted that Emperor Akihito hopes for further consolidation of traditionally friendly relations, characterized by wide spectrum of directions, with Turkmenistan.
Having thanked for the warm words and conveyed in return cordial greetings and best wishes to the Emperor and The Prime minister of Japan, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan also pays great attention to accumulation of fruitful cooperation with the Country of the Rising Sun, which our country sees as good friend and one of the leading strategic partners. Having congratulated the Ambassador with appointment to responsible diplomatic position, the Leader of the Nation wished him successes in his work for further development of constructive interstate dialog that entered new quality level at modern stage.
In continue of the meeting, the Head of the State and his guest stated with delight the steadfast character of Turkmen – Japan relations, which are dynamically developed both in bilateral and multilateral formats under competent international structures and organizations. It was highlighted that strong impulse to versatile cooperation was given by agreements reached during the visits of the President of Turkmenistan to Japan and Prime minister of Japan to our country in the last years.
In this relation, the Leader of the Nation and Japanese diplomat noted the presence of favourable perspectives and considerable potential for intensification of mutually beneficial partnership in all spectrum of directions. Regular contacts on different level, sessions of Turkmen – Japanese and Japanese – Turkmen committees for economic cooperation, joint business forums as well as under “Central Asia + Japan” dialog, where, as is known Turkmenistan chairs for the period of 2015 – 2016, directly promote to these purposes.
Participation of world-known Japan companies in large investment project, realized in different spheres of economy of our country, is visual evidence of productiveness and sustainability of bilateral relations. Having taken the course toward innovative development, industrialization and radical modernization of industrial infrastructure, Turkmenistan relies on high technology segments, what opens new opportunities for efficient cooperation with Japanese partners. Along with trade and economic sphere, energy sector, petrochemical branch, transport, having large perspective are among actual directions.
Speaking on importance of humanitarian contacts, which are integral component of interstate dialog, the Leader of the Nation and the guest mentioned that relations in education and science, culture and art spheres are being activated by every year. Forthcoming opening of Oguzkhan Engineering and Technical University named after Oguzkhan will undoubtedly become important step in intensification of Turkmen – Japanese partnership in scientific and educational sphere.
It was also mentioned that favourable preconditions for cooperation in sport, which development is one of the priority directions of the state policy of Turkmenistan, are present.
