According to the results of two types of the program, 15 medals were won by Turkmen palvans at the Asian Alysh wrestling championship that ended in the Kyrgyz city of Osh.
According to updated data, 24 sets of awards in classical and freestyle Kyrgyz national wrestling were contested by 270 athletes from eight countries - Iran, India, Japan, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
As already reported, Turkmen masters of belt wrestling won 8 medals in the classic alysh style. In the final form of the program - freestyle alysh wrestling - our compatriots won 7 medals: 4 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze.
Four awards of the highest standard were won in the men's tournament, in which the national team of Turkmenistan took first place in the team standings. This success for our team was ensured by servicemen Rozymyrat Medov (weight category up to 80 kg) and Arslan Hojamberdiyev (up to 90 kg), as well as students of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Dayanch Guvanjov (up to 70 kg) and Nurmuhammet Baydogdyyev (over 100 kg).
It is noteworthy that this is the second medal for the last three athletes at the tournament. A day earlier, Nurmuhammet Baydogdyev, Alysh of the classical style, also won gold in the wrestling competition, while Arslan Hojamberdiyev and Dayanch Guvanjov won silver and bronze, respectively.
In the women's freestyle wrestling tournament, a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports Jemal Ovlyakuliyeva (up to 70 kg) won the silver medal, and the bronze medal was won by an athlete of the Belt Wrestling Federation of Turkmenistan Maral Garjikova (up to 60 kg) and a student of a sports university Naziya Jorayeva (up to 75 kg). A day earlier, in the classical style alysh wrestling, D. Ovlyakuliyeva was content with gold, and N. Jorayeva with bronze.
