Turkmen sambists won five medals on the first day of the Asian Championship

Five medals of various denominations were won by Turkmen athletes at the Asian Championship that started in the Lebanese city of Jounieh. According to the results of the first day of the competition, our team won one gold and two silver and bronze medals.

Rustam Annamuhammedov won the highest standard award in the championship among youths under 18 years old. He achieved this success in the weight category up to 98 kg, in which three athletes competed for medals. Thanks to a lucky lot, Rustam immediately got to the final, where in an equal fight (0:0) due to a technical action, the judges awarded the victory to our sambo wrestler.

Veronika Rus and Sabina Agajanova brought two silver medals to the team of Turkmenistan in combat sambo. The first fought in the weight category up to 54 kg, in which there were only two participants. Therefore, the only fight in this weight category turned out to be the final, in which Ayna Satkynalyyeva from Kazakhstan won a difficult victory on points (3:2).

Sabina Agajanova competed in the heavyweight category over 80 kg, in which three athletes competed for the Asian champion title. By the will of the lot, Sabina immediately ended up in the final, but lost there - 2:6 to Anar Seytimova from Kazakhstan and was content with a silver medal.

Bronze medals were awarded in the Asian Youth Championship Seydulla Akmamedov, and in combat sambo - Angelina Filippova. Seydulla achieved this success in the weight category up to 64 kg, in which 6 sambists competed for medals. In his first bout, which turned out to be a semi-final, S. Akmamedov lost to Munarbek Baktiyar uulu from Kyrgyzstan - 0:1, and in the fight for bronze he confidently defeated Ridha Al-Garukh from Iraq - 6:0.

Angelina Filippova, in the weight category up to 59 kg, in which four athletes competed, in her first fight lost in the semifinals to Janel Nabiyeva from Kazakhstan - 1: 3 and was content with a bronze medal.

On the second day of the competition, juniors no older than 20 years old will compete for medals in the Asian Championship.
