The football players of the Turkmenistan national team (under 23 years old) at the ongoing Youth Cup of Asia-2022 in Uzbekistan achieved another historic success. Having sensationally beaten Iran in the second round - 2:1 and played in the final match of the group round with Qatar in a draw - 2:2, the debutants of the final tournament from Turkmenistan for the first time entered the top eight of the strongest youth teams in Asia.

After the last game in Group A, the happy Turkmen football players started throwing up their coach Ahmed Agamuradov, sharing joyful emotions with him. And then, at the post-match press conference, the head coach of the youth team of Turkmenistan told reporters about some of the components of the team's success.

“First of all, I want to congratulate the people of Turkmenistan on this success and thank the fans for their support,” said Ahmed Agamuradov. - The match with Qatar turned out to be one of the most difficult for our team. We knew that a draw would suit us in this game, and therefore we planned to play actively in midfield with quick attacks. Having conceded two goals, my wards made a lot of efforts to change the course of the meeting, and, having shown a strong character, they achieved the desired result. Access to the playoffs of the Asian Cup (U-23) for young Turkmen football players is a good incentive to think about more.”

Commenting on the game of the hero of the match - Begenchmurad Muradov, the head coach of the youth team of Turkmenistan said that this is one of the main players of the team.

“In the first match against Uzbekistan, Begenchmurad was injured, and we were lucky that he returned to action and scored two vital goals,” said A. Agamuradov.

Answering the question of one of the Uzbek journalists, what other surprises to expect from the Turkmen team at the tournament, Ahmed Agamuradov answered:

“We will fight to the end, including in the quarterfinal match against Australia. It would be nice to play in the final with the national team of Uzbekistan.”

Recall that the match of the 1/4 finals Australia - Turkmenistan will be held on June 11 in Tashkent at the stadium "Bunyodkor".
