President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan on adoption of new edition of the Constitution of Turkmenistan during the Council of the Elders held in Ashgabat. The participants of the forum greeted this historical event by storm of applause.
The new edition of the Constitution of Turkmenistan will be the basis of national legislation system, guarantee of supremacy of Law, rights and freedom of citizens and firmness of principles of people’s power.
Before, the draft of the Constitutional Law of Turkmenistan on adoption of new edition of the Constitution of Turkmenistan was reviewed and adopted unanimously by deputies of the National Parliament, who took part in the Council of the Elders.
It was mentioned during the session that Constitutional committee worked for two years for improvement of the Main Law of the country. First revision, which was later published by domestic mass media of Turkmenistan for peoples’ consideration and review, was presented at the Council of the Elders on September 10, 2015 in Turkmenbashy. The draft of the Main Law was developed in cooperation and with account of the experts of the UN, OSCE German Agency for International Cooperation and other international organizations, which are long-term partners of our country.
