Greco-Roman wrestlers were the first to compete for medals at the Asian Championship. And it is very gratifying that in this type of wrestling, the first bronze medal appeared in the piggy bank of our team. It was won by a student of the 10th grade of the 51st secondary school of Ashgabat Kakabai Kakabaev. He achieved this success in the weight category up to 65 kg, in which 10 athletes competed for medals.

At the start, in the quarterfinals, Kakabay lost to Sunat Abdulloev from Tajikistan, who became the vice-champion of Asia - 0:4. However, then in the consolation tournament, he confidently defeated Kakeru Sakae from Japan - 12:2, and in the bronze medal match he defeated Tayon Kwon from the Republic of Korea - 7:1.

This is the first significant success in international competitions for 17-year-old Kakabai Kakabaev, who has twice won the championship of Turkmenistan among cadets under 15 years old. It is shared by the personal trainer of the talented athlete - Amangeldy Geldyev and Aimurad Avlyakuliyev, under whose leadership young Greco-Roman style wrestlers compete at the Asian Championship in Bishkek.

Shatlyk Yunusov was very close to winning a bronze medal in our team. In the weight category up to 60 kg, in which 10 athletes fought for awards, Shatlyk confidently defeated Mahabub Alam (Bangladesh) in the quarterfinals - 9:0.
