Having expressed the intention of the largest regional financial structure to expand bilateral cooperation with Turkmenistan, Mr. Takehiko Nakao noted the perspective of consolidation of business relations with our country, which has colossal economic and resource potential and proven as responsible and reliable partner in the world arena.
Greeting the head of the ADP, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed the intention of our country to develop fruitful cooperation with competent financial organization, with which the experience of successful joint work has been acquired.
During the meeting, the Head of the State and his guest shared the views on priority directions of bilateral cooperation, discussed opportunities of further expansion of productive relation aimed at perspective and in the context of most important projects of national and regional significance. Having stated with delight that the Asian Development Bank acts as Transactional Advisor of construction project of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India (TAPI) transnational gas main, the Leader of the Nation expressed the gratitude to the President of the ADB for constructive approach to the partnership.
Neutral Turkmenistan actively implements peace and open door policy, pursuing it not only in relation of the neighbouring countries but in the interest of the states of the region and the whole mankind, - President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. At the same time, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan supports the provision of sustainable development in Afghanistan initiating exclusively peaceful solution of existing problems in this country and supporting involvement of new long-term economic projects. Turkmenistan will continue to make all efforts for rendering assistance to fraternal Afghan people and coordinate this subjects with the world community under largest international organizations in particular with the UN, - the Leader of the Nation said.
In his turn, Takehiko Nakao said that his bank entirely supports foreign policy strategy realized by Turkmenistan and constructive international initiatives and is willing to render all possible support for their implementation. Having stated with delight that our country renders actual assistance to Afghanistan in establishment of prosperous life, the Head of the ADB highlighted the importance of projects, which are being steadily realized in such strategy spheres as supply of energy carriers and power, laying out of new transport corridors and inclusion of them into regional network, etc.
Successful joint work over construction of Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India gas pipeline will affect positively social and economic development of not only the countries participating in the project but the states of the region in general. According to the forecasts, subject to successful realization of this project, which promises huge economic benefit to Afghanistan, more than 12 thousand employments will be created there. In this relation, the Head of the State noted that Resolution on Agreement with the Islamic Development Bank for financing of construction of the Turkmen part of TAPI gas main was signed.
Being Transactional Advisor of construction project of this transnational gas pipeline, the Asian Development Bank hails this news, - the guest said, having emphasized the focus of ADP on further financial support of large investment projects initiated by the Turkmen Leader, having noted that they are economically beneficial for the states of the region. In this context, the guest made special accent on topicality and importance of constructive proposals of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for provision of energy security and establishment of new transport and transit corridors.
Having touched on the subject of partnership in transport and communication sphere, the head of ADB highlighted that construction of railway corridor Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan will provide favourable conditions for increase of commodity turnover between participating countries and entire Eurasian continent. The guest said that consolidation of partners relations in this direction seems to be very perspective.
Taking the opportunity, the Head of the State invited the President of the Asian Development Bank to participate in Global Conference for Sustainable Transport System, which according to the decision of the UN General Secretary would be held in Ashgabat in the end of this year.
Electrical energy was called as important direction of bilateral cooperation. In this relation, the Leader of the nation noted that our country, supplying electrical power to Afghanistan at reduced cost, plans to increase the volumes in the future.
