The gold medal was won by Turkmen kickboxer Gochmurad Jumaniyazov at the Uzbekistan Open-2 international tournament held in Tashkent.
Competitions were held in the Yunusabad sports complex according to the WAKO World Kickboxing Association with the participation of athletes from 15 countries.
Our compatriot won awards of the highest standard in the weight category up to 75 kg section K-1, which is considered the toughest in kickboxing. In K-1, it is allowed to strike with the knee and at the joints. It is also allowed to hit with the back of the glove from a 360° turn (backfist), both to the head and to the body.
This is not the first success of Gochmurad Jumaniyazov in international competitions. Earlier, the 27-year-old Honored Master of Sports from Ashgabat won the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017 in Ashgabat, and also won medals of various denominations at the Asian Championships, the World Cup "World Cup Diamon", as well as many international competitions. Gochmurad achieved all these successes under the guidance of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Alexander Snagovsky. He is currently training with two-time European champion and World Cup winner Khalmurat Izmailov.
In the team standings of the tournament with a record number of awards, athletes from Uzbekistan excelled (452 medals - 119 gold, 123 silver and 210 bronze). On the second position - kickboxers of Kazakhstan (57 medals - 29 gold, 12 silver and 16 bronze). On the third - representatives of Tajikistan (60 medals - 26 gold, 19 silver and 15 bronze).
The team of Turkmenistan with 8 medals (1 gold, 2 silver and 5 bronze) took 7th place, ahead of the teams of Morocco, Jordan, Azerbaijan, Israel, Iraq, the Republic of Korea and Ukraine.
In total, medals at the Uzbekistan Open-2 tournament were won by representatives of 14 countries.
