The Center for Public Health and Food held a meeting of the National Coordination Group for Antimicrobial Resistance (SCP). Its organizers are Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service in cooperation with the country office of World Health Organization.
The mission of WHO experts arrives to Ashgabat in order to participate in its work. These consultants of the WHO European Office are Lars Blad, Onur Karatuna, Daniel Myuner and WHO headquarters officer Sergey Yeremin. The purpose of their visit is the provision of technical advisory support to the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in the development of the National Strategy and action plan on SCP, participated in the meeting of the National Coordination Group on SCP, as well as conducting a training course for laboratory specialists in laboratory methods for studying the susceptibility of microorganisms to antimicrobial drugs.
It is known, resistance to antibiotics is now a global problem. It rises to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world, negatively affecting the body's resistance to infectious diseases, and nullifying the achievements of world medicine.
In May 2015, the World Health Assembly approves a plan of action to combat antimicrobial resistance. And the primary task is to increase public awareness and understanding of the problem, preparation of cadres. Having addressed this problem, WHO is leading a global campaign for sustainable use of antibiotics and is closely working with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service of Turkmenistan in the framework of the National Programme to combat of microbe of antimicrobial resistance held work on a number of directions. It consists of adequate control of antibiotic treatment in all health care facilities, training of personnel in the control system, the study of microbial antibiotic resistance of the population, identifying contamination of objects of environment pathogens microorganism, as well as control of the health status.
A working group was established in 2014, which is consisting of experts from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry, State Sanitary and Epidemiological Service, Chief of pharmacy management, registration center of drugs and state control of their quality, a number of departments of the State Medical University. It carries out monitoring of risks associated with antibiotic resistance. To support the development of cross-sectoral coordination mechanism is entrusted to the national coordinator. Its functions also include ensuring regular data collection and exchange of information, facilitating the coordination of actions involved in the work of experts, and the development of a national action plan.
The agenda of the meeting of the National Coordination Group are brought issues of rational use of antimicrobials, epidemiological surveillance in this area of activity, thelaboratory services, as well as the development of clinical protocols and standards of treatment for major diseases with antimicrobial resistance. The situation in the SCP in veterinary medicine and agriculture highlighted the representative of the State Veterinary Service.
