President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at an extended meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers held on Friday, instructed Deputy Prime Minister N. Amannepesov, who is in charge of sports, to award, on behalf of the country's leadership, athletes who won prizes at the rally-raid “Silk Way-2022” and the Asian weightlifting championship among boys (up to 17 years old) and juniors (up to 20 years old). The award ceremony will take place on August 3 at the Avaza National Tourist Zone.
Remind that at the rally-raid “Silk Way-2022” that took place this month across Russia with a start in Astrakhan and a finish in Moscow, Turkmen racers in the offset of serial off-road vehicles of the T2 over 1000 km discipline, where five crews went to the start, including four from our country, occupied the entire podium.
Pilot Merdan Toylyyev and navigator Shohrat Toylyyev climbed to the top step of the podium, finishing in 48 hours 47 minutes 25 seconds. For them, this victory was the first in the prestigious marathon. Shamyrat Gurbanov (pilot) and Muhammetmyrat Gurbanov (navigator) lost 7 minutes and 47 seconds to them. Maksatmyrat Danatarov (pilot) and Didar Orazmedov (navigator) were behind the winners by 3 hours 59 minutes and 44 seconds, closing the top three.
All crews of the Automobile Sports Federation of Turkmenistan performed in Nissan Patrol cars.
A rich harvest of medals was collected by Turkmen athletes at the Asian Weightlifting Championship among youths and juniors, which ended the other day in Tashkent, the awards of which were contested by 261 athletes from 21 countries in two age categories at once.
Turkmen weightlifters won a total of 20 medals (6 gold, 7 silver and 7 bronze) in all types of the program. The awards of the highest standard in our team in the younger age group (up to 17 years) were awarded to a student of the 10th grade of the Ashgabat secondary school № 104 Medina Amanova (weight category up to 64 kg) and a student of the 11th grade of the Ashgabat secondary school № 20 Saparly Muhyyev(up to 89 kg).
