The President of Turkmenistan held session dedicated to forthcoming opening of transnational railroad

Members the State Security Council, hyakims of velayats and Ashgabat, heads of number of ministries and departments, mass media took part in the session. Having announced the agenda, which included issues of putting into operation of such important international facility as well as establishment of the committee responsible for conduct of opening ceremony of start of the first section of new railroad, the Leader of the Nation gave floor to Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers S. Satlykov.

The Vice-premier gave detailed report on course of construction of the first section of International Asian railroad transport corridor on Atamyrat – Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan) – Akina (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan) part and informed on preparation to opening ceremony. Having presented the draft of the Decree on establishment of committee for conduct of this event.

It was informed that installation works on this part are at the final stage, including construction of auxiliary infrastructural facilities.

Generally, construction and installation works Atamyrat – Ymamnazar – Akina railroad are planned to be completed in the first decade of November, 2016.

Large social and economic impact is expected from this railway in Afghanistan, because, as a rule, automobile roads, power and energy lines are laid along such roads. Owing to such infrastructure, perspectives of such territories, where railroads are laid, along which working settlements appear, next to large industrial facilities, satellite cities grow. Thousands of working places are appeared; industrial growth is observed.

Speaking to the participants the Head of the State mentioned that putting into operation of the first line of International Asian railway corridor, i.e. Atamyrat – Ymamnazar – Akina railroad, as well as terminal for reception, storage and offloading of hydrocarbons are important events. It concurs with the Global Conference for Sustainable Transport System, which is going to be held in our country.

It is expected that numerous guests from different countries and representatives of international organisations would take parts in the events in Turkmenistan. We have to undertake all measures to conduct the forthcoming forum on high organisation level, - the Leader of the Nation said, having signed the Decree on establishment of the committee composing Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, leaders of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and branch departments, hyakims of the velayats and Ashgabat.

During the session, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that currently, establishment of transnational transport corridors as a model of development of infrastructure of regional and interregional cooperation becomes more topical. Development of international transport corridors meets internal and foreign interests of Turkmenistan. Foreign policy priorities of our country are well known to the world community. They are invariable peace making course, regional integration in the Central Asia, partnership with European and CIS countries, mutually beneficial relations with other countries.

The Head of the State highlighted that the future is in combined system of transport with entering of the largest international and regional sea, river, automobile, railroad and air hubs, their optimum combination and use of the advantages.

Integrated transport system with good facilities and clear technical and legal basis, coordinated with cooperation mechanisms is able to influence geopolitical situation, defining tight relations of its economic components with national development strategies of the countries. Transnational railway Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran of the North – South transport corridor is an example of it, - President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

International Asian railway corridor, which includes Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan part, is summoned to become important link in international cargo traffic between the states of the region. Construction of 85-kilometers of Atamyrat – Imamnazar section of the Turkmen part is completed. Total length of Atamyrat – Imamnazar railroad is 88 kilometres. Part of the road between Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan) – Akina (Afghanistan) frontier post is three kilometres.

Thus, Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Tajikistan railroad will become another golden link of the Asian railway corridor, which in its turn will become an important segment of international transport networks uniting two parts of the huge continent, Europe and Asia.

Besides traditional priority directions of relations with strategy partners neighbouring states, Turkmenistan studies in details new opportunities of cooperation with Middle East countries including the countries Persian Gulf. Indeed, this region is of great importance for the whole system of international relations. The factors influencing various international problems are concentrated there.

International transport corridors became key mechanisms of globalisation of the world economy. Being involved in these processes, Turkmenistan, resting upon sustainable economic and social development of the country improvement of competitiveness of domestic goods and services at international markets establishes one of the most important transport centres of the continent. It would allow occupying deserving place in post-industrial structure of the world.

After, the Head of the State set specific assignments to the relative leaders, having given range of instructions for organization of these international events in our country on the highest level.
