National parliament adopted new bills and assigned the date for the forthcoming election of the President of Turkmenistan

Number of laws and other legislative and regulatory documents were reviewed and adopted during regular sixteen session of the national parliament, the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the fifth convocation.

By its Resolution “On election of the President of Turkmenistan”, the national parliament defined February 12, 2017 as a date for the forthcoming election of the head of the state. Three parties, namely ,besides the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, the Party of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and Agrarian Party, will take part in this campaign.

The parliament adopted the law of Turkmenistan “On Counteract against Human Trafficking”, which was developed under realization of national Action Plan for counteract against human trafficking for 2016 – 2018. The Law defines organizational and legal basis of counteract against human trafficking, complex of measures for protection of persons suffered from human trafficking, the rehabilitation and provision of assistance to such persons.

The Mejlis approved draft bills “On Mandatory guarantee of deposits of individuals”, “On adoption and implementation of Water Code of Turkmenistan” as well as amendments and addendums to the Code on administration delinquencies, to Arbitration procedural code, to the Law “On measures related to treatment of persons affected by alcoholism, drug or psychoactive substances addicted”, to the Law “On defence” and others.

The Mejlis’s Resolutions “On joining to International Convention on the Harmonization of Frontier Controls of Goods”, “On joining to Intergovernmental Agreement on Dry Ports”, “On ratification of the Agreement between Turkmenistan and Federal Republic of Germany on double taxation of income and property taxes”, “On ratification of Paris agreement” approved by member countries on December 12, 2015 during 21st Conference of the UN Framework Convention on climate change.
