The strongest cyclists of the country were determined

One of the interesting events in the sports life of the capital was the recently completed national championship of cycling. More than five dozen athletes took part in the event organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Policy of Turkmenistan and the Cycling Federation.

For four days in Ashgabat, in the picturesque foothills of the Kopetdag, cyclists fought for the championship title. The competition program consisted of individual, pair and team time trials, as well as a group race, in which the winner was determined by the points scored.

So in the individual race with a time trial, the men covered a distance of 25 kilometers. Here Mahmut Ashyrov won. In women in this discipline, the distance was 15 kilometers. Zohre Gurbanmyradova showed the best result here.

Let's note the group race, in which the athletes went in a circle. Thus, the winner was determined by the number of points scored at the intermediate and final finishes. The women rode 20 laps and the men 30 laps. In the men, Mahmut Ashyrov from Ashgabat became the winner. The second result was shown by Yhlasbek Adylbekov from Dashoguz. It is noteworthy that despite his young age, Yhlasbek was born in 2005, he competed on equal terms with the strongest athletes of the country and confidently won prizes. The athlete achieved this result thanks to his talent, well-coordinated work with the coach Nargeldi Igdyrov, as well as the experience gained during the monthly training camp in Korea at the branch of the International Cycling Centre. Among women, the strongest in this discipline was Jennet Gylychdurdyyeva from Ahal velayat. The second result was won by a young and promising athlete from Dashoguz, Sevinch Gutlymyradova.

–Under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, in our country, along with other sports disciplines, much attention is paid to the active use of such an environmentally friendly mode of transport as a bicycle, says Igor Yuldashev, coach of the National Technical Centre of Turkmenistan. –As you know, a bicycle today can be considered not only the most effective way to improve health, but also the most affordable. This time, within the framework of the championship, for the first time an additional cycling race was held for fans of this sport, where those who wish could try their hand. The participants really liked the innovation, we hope that it will become a good tradition, both on the highway and on the cycle track.
