Turkmen young athlete Ovezmyrat Sapadurdyyev won 4 gold medals at the 12th Shotokan Karate World Championship that started on Friday in Pardubice (Czech Republic).
The competition brought together 733 karatekas from 31 countries, who will compete for 246 sets of awards within three days - in the disciplines of kata (exercises demonstration - fighting with an invisible opponent) and kumite (combat sparring) in different age and weight categories.
On the first day of the World Championship-2022, a 5th grade student of the 1st specialized secondary school with in-depth study of foreign languages of the Gokdepe etrap of the Ahal velayat Ovezmyrat Sapadurdyyev distinguished himself in our team, who won four gold medals in combat sparring among teenagers 10-11 years old.
Each of the battles in which Ovezmyrat took part lasted 2 minutes. And the winner in them was determined with a certain difference in points.
O. Sapadurdyyev won three awards of the highest standard in the weight category up to 30 kg in the disciplines: Shobu ippon kumite (bout with a difference of up to 2 points), Shobu sanbon kumite (bout up to 6 points) and VKF kumite (bout up to 8 points). He was awarded the fourth gold medal in the absolute weight category in the discipline of Shobu ippon kumite (bout up to 2 points).
Earlier this month, at the 17th Banzai Cup-2022 karate tournament in Berlin (Germany), Ovezmyrat Sapadurdyyev won gold in the kata discipline among teenagers under 12 years old.
Ovezmyrat is engaged in karate under the guidance of his father Sapadurdy Setdarov, the coach of the national team of Turkmenistan, the owner of the 3rd dan black belt.
