The members of the CEC, working groups, representatives of political parties and public associations, the mass media attended the meeting. It was approved schedule of activities for the preparation and holding of presidential elections, which according to the Resolution of the Mejlis of the country will be held on February 12, 2017.
The Central Commission for Elections and Referendums in Turkmenistan since October 24, 2016 announces the start of the election campaign for the President of Turkmenistan. Nomination of candidates begins 60 days before the election day.
It was also reported the information on members of velayat and Ashgabat city election commissions on the ongoing work on the preparation of presidential elections, as well as the organization of a wide range of activities at different levels, where the extremely important role is devoted to the explanatory work among the population. As noted, a special responsibility falls on the members of the commission, a clear and well-coordinated work of which depends largely on the success of this major social and political action.
During the meeting, the participants discussed a number of organizational issues related to the upcoming campaign, the progress of which will be watched not only by the national observers from political parties and public organizations, but also by the invited international experts and observers. In particular, the necessary documents have been approved, including manuals, booklets, various materials for observers and citizens of Turkmenistan, as well as planned training workshops for members of district, city and district commissions.
According to the CEC’s decision, our fellow citizens who on Election Day will be outside the country, the relevant polling stations will be set up at the diplomatic missions of Turkmenistan.
The participants are unanimous that their main goal is to do everything to the make the upcoming elections of President of Turkmenistan to be held at the highest organizational level, in strict compliance with the electoral laws of the country and international law.
Thus, today a large-scale organizational work has been launched, which will be carried out every day, in strict compliance with the approved calendar plan.
The Chairman of the Mary and Akhal regional election commissions on the preparations for the election of Mejlis Deputies of some districts is scheduled for November 20. In particular, the constituency number 24 "Dushak" in Akhal region, № 119 "Atchapar" and № 124 "Pende" of the Mary region were held the nominating meeting.
The participants of the meetings, having familiarized with work background of the candidates, their visions of the future democratic development of the state and society, and the business and personal qualities, supported their candidacy to the legislative organ of the country. In total, members of the national parliament nominated 6 candidates, including those from the Akhal and Mary regional committees and Takhtabazar District Committee of the Democratic Party, as well as groups of citizens.
