The reports on the history of the currency circulation of the country, the development of the banking system within the years of independence, the importance of the fundamental reforms taken place in the country with the aim to improve this sphere and the efficient cooperation with regional and authoritative international financial structures were presented during the meeting.
Those speaking during the forum noted that the introduction of the national currency – manat in November 1, 1993 was an important step, one of the key factors recognizing our country as a sovereign full member of the international community. The new epoch in the history of the currency circulation in the country has started in Turkmenistan since that date. The country take effective measures initiated by the leader of the Turkmen state with the aim to create the most efficient national model of the market economy and raise the living standards. The sustainable work of the banking sphere, an essential segment of the national economy of the country is of particular significance for guaranteeing the competitiveness and dynamic growth of the Turkmen economy, its successful integration into the global economic relations.
The complex work is taken place in the country to improve the work of banks, increase the volumes of credit and retail deposits, introduce the system of non-cash transactions using the most advances methods and technologies and increase the personnel skill level in compliance with the tasks set by the State Programme on the banking system development in 2011-2030. The efficient steps have been taken within 25 years of independence to support the private sector of the national economy, which are financed by the banking institutions, that allowed significantly widen the network of individual enterprises and create new jobs.
