On November 7, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov left with official visit to Malaysia. The Head of the State was seen of by the officials at Ashgabat International Airport.
After several hours, the President’s airplane landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Honouring high-rank Turkmen guest, air harbour of Malaysian capital flew the State flags of both countries; the guard of honour was lined up along the carpet running to the ramp of the plane. The Leader of the Nation was presented with flowers.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was met by high-rank representatives of friendly country as well as members of government delegation of Turkmenistan.
From the airport, the motorcade of the Turkmen leader went to Shangri La hotel where the residence for the President of Turkmenistan was allocated for his two days visit. At the hall of the hotel, the Leader of the Nation was greeted Turkmen students who study in the leading universities of Malaysia.
Having expressed the interest of conditions of their stay and achievements in study, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that consolidation of scientific and educational relations has always been and remains to be most priority of Turkmen – Malaysian cooperation. This subject will be discussed during forthcoming summit on November 8.
The Head of the State gave paternal guidance to young students, wished them commitment in mastering of new knowledge, technologies and professional skills.
The members of Turkmen delegation also met Turkmen students who study in universities of Malaysia and on behalf of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov presented them books - the works of the Leader of the Nation.
It is worth mentioning that working programme of government delegation includes number of meetings in relative branch ministries and departments of Malaysia on topical issues of interstate cooperation.
During extended session of the Cabinet of Ministries, the Head of the State made special mention of the importance of forthcoming bilateral negotiations at high-rank level under further development of traditional relations of friendship and mutually beneficial interstate collaboration, having stated the presence of favourable conditions for steadfast consolidation of efficient cooperation and exchange of the experience with Malaysian partners in all directions.

Official visits of the Prime- Minister of Malaysia to our country in 2011 and 2014, during which mutual willingness of the sides to comprehensive activation of traditionally trustful partnership, which is based on long-term principles, equality and mutual benefit, became important milestones in the history of modern interstate cooperation.
According to the agreements, the Embassy of Malaysia to Turkmenistan was opened in Ashgabat in December 2011 and according to the Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the Embassy of our country started its work in Kuala Lumpur in March 2013. Direct flight connecting the capitals of both countries was opened in February of the last year.
In this relation, it is necessary to highlight the commitment of both sides for expansion of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in priority directions including trade and economy, fuel and energy sphere, petrochemical, electronic, textile and food industry and other. In this context, special attention is paid to regular meeting of government and privates structures, business forums, which are summoned to concreatize perspective directions of long-term partnership.
Productive work of famous Malaysian company “Petronas”, developing hydrocarbon deposits in Turkmen part of the Caspian Shelf, is a bright example of many years old successful cooperation of two countries. The Company also assist in training of professional personnel for oil and gas branch, starting from technical staff to highly qualified engineers and management. Numerous Turkmen students have been graduated and continue to study in Petronas Technical University, which Honoured Doctor is President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
There is also large potential for expansion of traditional contacts in cultural sphere. It is evidence by mutual interest in large-scale events, in particular in Days of Culture. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned few times that peoples of Turkmenistan and Malaysia are united by the community of basic spiritual values, religion and traditions, moral targets. All of these creates good opportunity for interesting humanitarian dialog consolidating mutual respect and assisting to better understanding of each other.
Taking to account the priorities of the state development, education, sport and tourism, giving opportunities of direct contacts and close communication of two peoples, having unique heritage of spiritual and material culture, are also perspective directions.
The trust between two countries, promotes not only the expansion of bilateral cooperation in political, diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres but also the development of coordinated cooperation in the world arena, first under competent international organization and regional structures such as the United Nations Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other.
Another visit of the Turkmen Leader to Malaysia, made by the invitation of Head of the Government of this country Dato Sri Mohd Najib Bin Tun, is summoned to give strong impulse to established constructive interstate dialog, to concretize general approaches to further mutually beneficial cooperation with account of maximum involvement of richest resource and economic potential.
