President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received CEO of PETRONAS Datuk Wan Zulkifli Wan Ariffin during official visit to Malaysia. The meeting was held at Shangri La Hotel where the residence of Turkmen Leader was located.
Having expressed sincere gratitude for spared time, the Head of PETRONAS congratulated President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on successful official visit to Malaysia. It was mentioned that Malaysian business circles express ever-growing interest to cooperation with Turkmenistan. At the same time, the tendency of PETRONAS to expansion of established efficient cooperation with our country, having many years of experience of joint work in fuel and energy sector, was confirmed.
Having thanked for warm words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highlighted that neutral Turkmenistan is always opened for fruitful dialog, especially with such long-term and reliable partners as Malaysia. In this context, the Leader of the Nation mentioned large contribution of Malaysian oil and gas company to the development of interstate cooperation, which has considerable economic and resource potential. It is remarkable that PETRONAS was the first foreign company that started the development of hydrocarbon deposits of Turkmen shelf of the Caspian Sea.
Interested discussion of opportunities and plans for further cooperation, built on the principles of long-term partnership and mutual benefit, was held during the meeting. Having informed on the course of works, undertaken by Malaysian company in Turkmenistan, Datuk Wan Zulkifli Wan Ariffin highlighted the willingness of PETRONAS to continue taking active part in large-scale projects initiated by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in fuel and energy sector.
Cooperation in professional education – training of qualified specialists in oil and gas sphere, was also called as one of the important direction s of the partnership between Turkmenistan and PETRONAS.
