In the conference hall of the International Training and Research Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan held a scientific-practical conference dedicated to the World Day against the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, which is celebrated on the initiative of the World Health Organization.

The conference was organized by the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry and Hospital with scientific and clinical physiology center. The heads of ministries, TB specialists and family doctors of the capital and regions, representatives of the faculty of State Medical University, as well as international organizations accredited in our country, and the mass media attended its work.

The WHO estimates, COPD are affected by210 million people. The main causes of the disease are smoking, tobacco smoke, air pollution, exposure to chemical fumes.

The conference participants discussed modern methods of diagnosis and treatment of obstructive lung diseases, pulmonology service achievements of Turkmenistan. Emphasis was made on the need for antibiotic treatment and prevention of passive smoking. In the context of the discussed problematics, Turkmen specialists shared their experience with the use of speleotherapy and other effective non-drug treatments.
