The men's and women's teams of Turkmenistan made it to the playoffs of the junior tournament (U-14) of the World Tennis Championship of the Asia/Oceania qualification zone, which takes place in Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, with the participation of 15 countries. The national youth team of our country achieved this success by taking the lead in Group «D», and the team of girls advanced to the next round of the competition, taking second place in Group «B».

On their way to the playoffs, the Turkmen guys scored three victories with the same score of 3:0 over the teams of Macau, Cambodia and Saudi Arabia. It is noteworthy that in the second round, in a meeting with Cambodian tennis players, Imran Ahundov gave only two games to his opponent in each set. In the rest of the matches of singles and doubles, our compatriots did not leave a single chance to their opponents: Selim Chagylov won against Ratanak Force - 6:0, 6:0, and Selim Chagylov and Imran Ahundov with the same score defeated the duet of Ratanak Force and Vireak Poyev.

The match against Saudi Arabia turned out to be more stubborn. In the first solo meeting. Selim Chagylov defeated Abdulrazak Al Henabi - 6:4, 6:0, and in the second, Imran Ahundov defeated Haider Mohammed Al Fried - 7:5, 6:3. In doubles. Selim Chagylov and Resul Mammetgurbanov confidently beat Ali Mohammed Al Ahmad and Haider Mohammed Al Fried - 6:2, 6:1.

Turkmen tennis players on the way to the playoffs after defeating Macau teams - 3:0 and defeat from the Indonesian team - 0:3 won in a difficult struggle against rivals from Kyrgyzstan - 2:1. In the first singles match, Natalya Martynova lost to Eva Gavshina - 3:6, 5:7, in the other - the first racket of Turkmenistan Ilim Huseynova in the third set broke the resistance of Kamila Aripova - 6:7, 6:3, 7:6, and the score in the match became a draw - 1:1. The fate of the duel was decided by the doubles game, in which Natalya Martynova and Ilima Huseynova were stronger than Eva Gavshina and Kamila Aripova - 6:1,6:3.

But in the men's tournament, 8 teams continue to fight in the playoffs. In the 1/4 finals, the national team of Turkmenistan will play with the team of Nepal. Other quarter-final pairs were: Singapore - Lebanon, Malaysia - Kyrgyzstan and Saudi Arabia - Sri Lanka.

The ITF World Junior Tennis Under 14 Qualifier will end in Colombo on the 18th of February.
