New appearance of Ashgabat is summoned to meet its high status of the capital of independent neutral Turkmenistan embodying the spirit of artistic creation and progress. Establishment of favourable conditions for people’s life, which is undisputable principle both in urban planning programme and in the state policy of Turkmenistan in general, is the main criteria there. All modern facilities built in Ashgabat, which make the city more beautiful harmonically merging to its magnificent architectural ensemble, meet this principle.
Monumental decorative openwork tower “Zemin” was raised at the N. Analib and 10 Yil Abadanchylyk avenues roundabout. The sphere, which seems to be weaved from shining metal lace, symbolize our planet. Reticular construction of the globe reminds on the fragility of the Earth, which has to be protected by us consolidating the peace and harmony between the countries, people, human and nature. The globe is supported by the column, which embraces it on the top like by palms. The whole structure looks like a flower opening toward the sun.
Another composition, the Ebedilik decorated the intersection of N. Analib avenue and Yunus Emre street. The idea of eternity of existence is embodied there. The wheel of life and symbol of eternity in the shape of figure eight is discerned there and dynamic of unstoppable movement and urge of human thought, running through the centuries and space, are communicated.
The next composition is called Jebislyk, the Solidarity. It is located at the roundabout of N. Andalib and A. Niyazov avenues. The artistic concept of this construction opens the thought of many springs merge into one strong flow, which is able to come over everything on its way. The main image of this composition is a flare as a symbol of freedom, fire, light, life, truth, spirit as well as a symbol of succession of traditions.
Another original plastic composition “Osush” was raised at the roundabout of N. Andalib and Galkynysh avenues. Its elegant, despite the monumentality, string style embodies the growth and development, revival and renewal, tenderness and at the same time the energy of life.
Large sculpture depicting the swallows enliven the intersection of N. Andalib and Magtumguly avenues. It was called “Erkanalyk” and symbolize free flight of the spirit and thought, the nobleness of sincere impulse. The swallow was always considered as the messenger of the spring, good will, happiness, hope and success. This is a charm of home comfort, loyalty of friendship, adherence to the sources and at the same time it is associated with the craving for travelling.
The sixth monument, located at Magtumguly and Aba Annayev avenues roundabout, is called “Chemen”. The simplicity and laconism of its shape contain the multiple meaning as a bunch of flowers is an attribute of the holiday, with which we relate the best wishes of happiness, love, abundance, health and successes. It is also the symbol of hearts unification, expression of sincere feelings, gratitude and admiration.
The participants of the opening ceremonies of new sculptural compositions made a tour along renewed streets of Ashgabat. Somebody made it by feet and other went by double-deck buses specially given for this occasion and decorated with balloons, emblems of the Year of Honour of Heritage and Transformation of the Motherland and the 21st anniversary of the neutrality of Turkmenistan.
