The Head of the European Union delegation is accredited to Turkmenistan

On the request of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdiyeva received the credentials of the Head of European Union delegations to Turkmenistan Cristian Berger as and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

The Head of the national Parliament congratulated the guest on appointment to high position and highlighted that consolidation of constructive and fruitful relations with the European Union is one of the key aspects of foreign policy strategy of our country, which steadily pursues the policy of wide international cooperation in universal interests.

Having expressed the gratitude for warm welcome, the diplomat, taking the opportunity, addressed President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and all people of Turkmenistan his cordial greetings on national holiday, the Neutrality Day and wishes of peace, prosperity, new grandiose achievements on the way of sovereign development. It was mentioned that the European Union has keen interest in comprehensive expansion of long-term dialog with Turkmenistan, which is a strategic partner that occupies key positions in the Central Asia and demonstrates its peace-making potential in the development of regional and interregional cooperation.

During the conversation, high dynamics of the development of the relations between Turkmenistan and the European Union, which is indicated by number of realized projects and programmes and those which are still under realization, was mentioned.

The guest was introduced with priorities of internal and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, objectives and targets of large-scale social and economic transformations and fundamental reforms, including in legislation sphere, which are undertaken in the country.

Special attention was paid to the consolidation of inter-Parliament relations during the meeting. Having expressed the confidence in successful continuation of constructive partnership, which meets general objectives and targets, Head of the European Union delegation Mr Cristian Berger voiced his endeavour to take all efforts for further closer relations and mutual understanding of people of Turkmenistan and European countries, development of mutually beneficial and equal partnership.
