Among the priority tasks facing the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the seventh convocation, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov called the need to systematically strengthen contacts with the parliaments of other states and leading international structures in order to promote the country's foreign policy on the world stage through parliamentary diplomacy. At the same time, the expediency of new methods of interaction for the exchange of experience with inter-parliamentary friendship groups, between relevant committees, young parliamentarians and women parliamentarians was noted. Favourable conditions for this are also due to the new composition of the deputy corps. According to the data announced at the first meeting of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan of the new convocation, more than a quarter of the people's deputies are women, and the majority of elected deputies are representatives of the younger generation.

As the head of state emphasized, taking an active part in international meetings, forums and conferences organized at parliamentary venues, representatives of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan are also called upon to hold similar events in our country. This is a good opportunity not only to exchange experience in the field of parliamentary activities and lawmaking, but also to familiarize the world community with our positive initiatives.

Taking into account the growing contribution of parliamentary diplomacy to the development of interstate dialogue, humanitarian, social, cultural ties, the establishment of various channels of communication between countries, Turkmenistan is intensifying inter-parliamentary ties and cooperation in the indicated areas. The development of inter-parliamentary relations both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of international organizations is seen as an important condition for strengthening peace and trust in the international arena, giving positive impetus to the entire world political agenda.

Thus, in March of this year, the delegation of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the meetings of the 146th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and, within its framework, in the second conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement. Speaking at the plenary session of the IPU Assembly, the vice speaker of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan noted the great role of the parliaments of various countries in ensuring peace and sustainable development, emphasizing that the most important priorities of state policy under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov are the issues of ensuring stability and harmony in society, strengthening the foundations of democracy, democracy and law.

Regular exchanges of delegations and events held in the Turkmen capital, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Forum of the States of Central Asia and Russia held in May last year, are aimed at the development of inter-parliamentary dialogue, the development of mechanisms for professional communication, a wide exchange of experience and practices of legislative activity.
