The past week marked new events of further development of our fatherland, where transformations and grandiose achievements under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, promote activization of constructive international cooperation, achievement of high rates of development in all sectors of economy, increase of well-being of people.

On May 1, the head of the state held the online working meeting, which discussed the course of agricultural campaigns in regions and results of business trips of the delegation of Turkmenistan to the United States of America and Federal Republic of Germany at the instructions of the President of the country.

During the meeting, the head of the state, having approved the request of Deputy-Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of Foreign Affairs R.Meredov on the regular labour leave, assigned temporary duties of the head of foreign policy department to Deputy-Minister of Foreign Affairs V.Hajiyev.

On May 3, President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the country general Serdar Berdimuhamedov held the next meeting of the State Security Council in which work of military and law enforcement bodies for four months of the current year was summed up. Its agenda included issues of security and tranquillity in our independent state, strengthening of material and technical basis of security departments and further perfection of their activity.

The past week, the head of the state signed the Decree, having instructed khyakims of velayats, cities and etraps in honour of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 in the solemn atmosphere to present veterans of war with cash gifts in the amount of 200 manats and costly presents on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan. 

Results of work of branches of national economy for January-April, 2023 were summed up at the next meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, which President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held online on May 4.

As the head of the state noted, results of four months of the current year testify that the country continues to develop according to adopted programs. The rate of increase of gross national product remained at level of 6, 2 percent. In all corners of our fatherland, numerous industrial and social projects are erected. Within economic diversification, everything necessary for manufacture of import replacing goods is ensured. State programs for increase in volumes of export-focused production are implemented successfully. The process of digitalization and industrialisation in the country goes on in full strength. 

On May 4 at the Olympic stadium of the capital Olympic village President Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with the President of the International Federation of Football (FIFA) Gianni Infantino.

The visitor was informed on the basic marks of development of national football and national team’s achievements in this sport, and about recently formed football club in the new city of Arkadag, which possesses modern sports projects.

On May 5-6, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the invitation of the English side made a working visit to Great Britain, where he took part in the ceremony of crowning of the King of the United Kingdom Great Britain and Northern Ireland Charles III and his wife of the queen-consort.

On May 5 during a formal reception in the Buckingham Palace, the President of Turkmenistan congratulated King of the United Kingdom Charles III on the forthcoming crowning, having expressed firm confidence that cooperation between two countries will be actively developed henceforth.

In turn, Charles III noted that with warmth he remembers his visit to Turkmenistan, having expressed best regards to President Serdar Berdymuhamedov and Turkmen people.

On May 6 upon completion of the solemn ceremony, the head of the state left home.

On May 7 the telephone conversation between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in which course it was underlined that the Turkmen -Russian strategic partnership develops on the widest spectrum of directions, took place. On a regular basis, meetings and contacts top-level are held.

Heads of the states warmly congratulated each other with the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, having wishes well-being and prosperity to the people of both countries.

The President of Turkmenistan thanked his Russian colleague for the invitation to take part in the solemn actions devoted to the Victory Day, which it is planned to be held in Moscow.

Passing to other events of the past week, we will note that in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the country the II International conference and exhibition “International transport-transit corridors: interconnectivity and development – 2023” took place.

The forum was organised by the Agency of Transport and Communications at the Cabinet of Turkmenistan together with “Turkmen Forum” economic society. Among participants - employees of state and private profile structures, experts, investors, representatives of international organisations and financial institutions - the United Nations, OSCE, World Bank, Asian Development Bank and diplomatic missions accredited to Turkmenistan.

At the exhibition large industrial enterprises, transport-logistical centres, manufacturers, suppliers of equipment for logistical centres, insurance companies, IT companies in the sphere of electronic commerce, administration of seaports, airports, managements of railways from CIS and other foreign countries were presented.

Meetings between state departments, specialized in the field of sea, air and land transport, with corresponding profile structures from the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Tajikistan, Italy, Spain, Turkey, India and others exchanged experience in area of development of transport and logistics, directions of further mutually advantageous partnership were defined.

Besides, such issues as condition of the world market of transport services, geography and dynamics of goods traffics, possibilities of increase of efficiency and competitiveness of all types of transport, role of motor and air transport in increase of efficiency of transport-transit potential of Turkmenistan in the conditions of Eurasian integration and diversification of geography of international transportation, control of risks and the account of logistical expenses were discussed.

Marking a significant role of Turkmenistan in escalating volumes of transit transportations in the region, speakers were unanimous in their opinion on the huge prospects opening in connection with cardinal reconstruction and development of Turkmen transport networks, the further deepening of constructive international cooperation.

As speakers underlined, for fruitful activity of all interested parties in the perspective Turkmen market favourable legal, financial and economic conditions are created.

Within the forum online round table was organized to develop upon creation of a modern system of logistics and simplification of process of transportation between states of Central Asia and Republic of Korea” and the launch of the project “Multimodal transport route CASCA + Asian-Pacific region-China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkiye-Europe“. 

The documents signed following the results of the forum urged to promote strengthening of productive cooperation, development of its effective forms, activization of positive regional and global processes for the sake of general well-being and progressive development.

Upon the conclusion of work of the conference and exhibition for participants sightseeing tours were organised.

The outcome of the conference sounded at the press conference, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In particular, it was noted that at the forum about 100 business meetings were held and 26 bilateral and multilateral documents were signed.

Participation in business meetings allowed raising the level of awareness of potential partners about new investment possibilities in the field of international transportation, to define perspective directions for establishment of long-term and mutually advantageous cooperation. Delegates also could familiarise with modern advanced experts in a number of profile spheres.

In the capital park "Ashgabat" there was held an ecological action “We will protect nature together!” aimed at wide popularisation of long-term nature protection policy of Turkmenistan initiated by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov among the public.

Within the action, the exhibition-fair of works of masters of arts and crafts and traditional national crafts was held, with assistance of public organisation “Ýaş tebigatçy” an open lesson devoted to manufacturing of non-polluting and useful production, - carpets, felt and embroideries took place. The gathered also could see clothes collection “Eco-fashion and nationality”, developed by experts of public organisation “Ýaş tebigatçy”.

Thus, events of the past week fully reflected sequence of the course of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov in realisation of strategy of internal development of the country as the state with its strong economic, resource, spiritual and social basis that steadily rises the standards of well-being of its people.
