Turkmen musicians returned with victory from International Bakhshi Art Festival

The Third International Bakhshi Art Festival, which gathered musicians and singers more than from 30 countries of the world in the city of Gulistan,Syrderya region, Uzbekistan, came to the end. Representatives of Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey, South Korea and Japan were among participants.

Our country was presented by Garyagdy Saryev, an honored artist of Turkmenistan, Head of the Bakhshi Art Department of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after M.Kulieva, Rovshan Mukhammedov and Saparmurad Amanmuradov, conservatory teachers, and Vepa Odaev, the student of conservatory on the international cultural arena.

Accompanied by gyjak and gargy-tuyduk, the skilled musician and executor Garyagdy Saryev demonstrated the art of Turkmen national singing and played on the national musical instrument dutar, performing «Soltan Hüseýin Baýkara» national epos – dastan.

The representatives of Turkmenistan won the victory for the mastery in the nomination of the best execution of dastan.

Just to remind, Turkmen bakhshi Kerven Yovbosarov also received the first place at the First International Bakhshi Art Festival, which was held in the Uzbek city of Termez in 2019. It proves that Turkmen musicians not only keep the bar high but also improve their professionalism year by year.

Besides, «The modern art of bakhshi: new melodies of a gold heritage» scientifically-practical conference took place within the frames of The Third International Bakhshi Art Festival, held from May, 6 till May, 8th. Prospects of development of national musical art were discussed at the forum.

As it was pointed out, art of bakhshi has special value for the cultural development of nations in the world. It serves as a peculiar bridge uniting representatives of different peoples. In their turn, bakhshis and poets are bearers of this art and transfer it from generation to generation, from one nation to another.

Great attention is paid to issues of attracting youth to the promotion of the best folklore traditions in Turkmenistan. Just these days wide- scaled festival of Magtymguly’s creative heritage «Magtymguly sözlär tili türkmeniň», timed to celebrating of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen poet and thinker, is being held in our country. One of the festival purposes is popularisation of bakhshi art.
