A team of schoolchildren from Turkmenistan adequately represented the country at the 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad, held in Astana (Republic of Kazakhstan) and organized by Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov (Russian Federation).
The national team included four students of the capital's specialized general boarding school named after S. Turkmenbashy, and each of the students returned to their homeland with a medal. 11th grade student Begzada Annayev won a silver medal. Bronze medals were awarded to 11th grade students Yakup Annaorazov, Yhlas Jumayev and 10th grade student Aygul Atajanova.
The national team of students was headed by the school chemistry teacher Nazar Mammedov, who also did a great job of preparing the children for the prestigious intellectual competition. Thanks to joint efforts, Turkmen schoolchildren brilliantly demonstrated their talents and abilities, knowledge and training in the subject at the site of the international Olympiad and were able to win the coveted medals.
According to the annual tradition, dozens of young experts from around the world competed in the knowledge of chemical theory, the ability to solve complex chemical problems, and the skills to work with chemical equipment. In general, 116 schoolchildren from 21 countries of the world took part in the 57th International Mendeleev Chemistry Olympiad. Including Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Austria, Mongolia, Macedonia, Syria, Croatia, Brazil, United Arab Emirates.
The International Mendeleev Olympiad in Chemistry is very popular among schoolchildren, and the number of participating countries is increasing every year. During the competition, schoolchildren, teachers, scientific leaders of national teams from around the world get an excellent opportunity to establish new scientific ties, contacts, exchange valuable experience, and discuss issues of the development of chemical education. This is how cooperation between countries is born, the well-established interaction is strengthened and developed.
Over the years, the Mendeleev Olympiad has deservedly become one of the most significant world-class competitions in chemistry among schoolchildren, which invariably serves its main goal - the formation of new generations of chemists, as well as the wide popularization of chemical education.
