The key issues of bilateral established and rapidly developing cooperation in various directions were discussed during the meeting of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit to Tehran, and President of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.
During the meetings held within the framework of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people to Iran, it was repeatedly emphasized that the Turkmen-Iranian relations are successfully and productively developing in a wide range of areas, including in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. Both parties express willingness to expand the productive and multifaceted interstate dialogue.
During the meetings, special attention was paid to cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere. In this direction, it was agreed to take concrete steps to strengthen scientific and educational ties.
In order to further develop constructive cooperation, as a result of the negotiations, there were signed a Memorandum on cooperation in the fields of education and healthcare between the Myrat Garryev State Medical University of Turkmenistan and the Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of education between the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov and the Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has stressed, that young people are our future, and Turkmenistan pays much attention to the implementation of youth policy. The successes and achievements of Turkmenistan are directly related to the activities and happy life of the younger generation.
The cultural and humanitarian sphere is one of the key areas of bilateral partnership. Tasks in this area were also widely discussed during the first official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Islamic Republic of Iran, held on June 14-15, 2022. During the bilateral meetings, the commitment to deepening ties in the field of education, science, culture, as well as increasing friendly contacts between the media, scientific institutions, and creative teams was confirmed.
Close cultural and scientific exchanges have been established between Turkmenistan and Iran, international conferences and forums are organized with the participation of Turkmen and Iranian delegations. Cross-cultural days, arts and crafts exhibitions and other joint events are regularly held.
The interstate dialogue based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and shared interests gives a great impetus to the further expansion of interaction and promotes a new stage of development of friendly and fraternal Turkmen-Iranian relations.
