Historical and cultural heritage is the spiritual wealth of the people

There is another issue of the popular scientific quarterly "Miras" magazine, published by the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan. The issue, addressed to a wide range of readers, continues a series of publications about new discoveries and research results of the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people.

The issue opens with congratulatory Addresses of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the occasion of International Women's Day and the National Holiday of Spring – the International Day of Novruz.

The author provides an overview of a number of studies and monographs, devoted to the linguistic features of the Turkic language of the southwestern subgroup, in the article "Scientific and comparative study of the Turkic languages of the Oguz subgroup" of the section "Discoveries and new developments".

The modern languages of the Oguz group, the commonality and differences of grammatical forms were studied in a comparative aspect in the works of Turkmen scientists. In addition, their origin and development were analyzed and important scientific conclusions were made.

The article "Discovered new historical traces of Turkmen Alabai" describes the clay and faience figurines of Turkmen Alabai and greyhound, found during excavations on the monuments of Paryzdepe, Dandanakan, Yassydepe, Shehrislam, Shehrikhaybar and many other monuments in recent years. This is convincing evidence that our ancestors attached great importance to breeding and upbringing of dogs of these breeds and preserving their gene pool.

The author pays special attention to the depiction of Turkmen Alabai tracks on the ornaments of ancient carpets. One of such patterns is "güjük yzy" (traces of a puppy), which dates back to the IX-XIV centuries. According to an ancient belief, this gyol protected a person, his hearth and livestock from troubles. The "tazyguýruk" (greyhound's tail) pattern is also often found on Turkmen carpets, felt mats and other handmade products.

The great poet and thinker Magtymguly addressed various topics in his work. Pyragy's works, dedicated to India, were the subject of the study in the publication "Poems of Magtymguly in the history of Turkmen-Indian relations", published in the section "Interaction of Cultures, Peoples and Civilizations",

This rubric also presents the article "Stavropol version of the plot "Zohra and Tahir".The plot of this legend is found in folk art and literature not only of the Turkmen, but also of other Turkic-speaking peoples. As the author notes, the version of the destan, recorded from the mouth of Stavropol Turkmens, differs in some details from the classical narrative.

Experts will be interested in the publication "Turkmen national patterns and ancient beliefs", which deals with the history of the origin of traditional ornaments and their meaning.

The next issue of the magazine concludes with a review of events in the social, scientific and cultural life of the country for the first quarter of this year. This section reflects current events that demonstrate the consistency of the progressive peacemaking course pursued by the head of state Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the success of his socially-oriented policy.

Numerous photo illustrations, including museum and archival artifacts, serve as an excellent complement to the articles published in Turkmen, English and Russian.
