Begli Annagylyjov, a 6-year-old chess player from Turkmenistan, won a bronze medal at the West Asian Championship, which ended in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The competition was held at the "Solemar Arena" in Korumdu on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul. They gathered more than 280 young chess players from 6 to 18 years old from Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Oman, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and players under the flag of the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

The participants of the championship contested awards in classical chess, rapid (fast) and blitz (lightning fast).

Our compatriot Begli Annagylyjov achieved bronze success in the youngest age category – no older than 6 years. At the end of 9 rounds, he scored 7 points, passing ahead only two athletes from Kazakhstan – Madi Majitov (8 points) and Sanzhar Rakhymtai (7.5 points).

It was Begli's first experience on the international stage. He is engaged in his favorite sport in the Ashgabat’s "Küşt Älemi" chess club, where other talented chess players also train under the guidance of an experienced coach and head Gurbangeldi Amangeldiev.
