The World Weightlifting Championship 2023 is a qualification for the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. According to the rules of selection for the Games, athletes (including weightlifters from the host country and those who can qualify on the principle of universality) must take part in the World Championship 2023 and the World Cup, which will be held in Thailand in April 2024.

According to the Olympic qualification rules, all those who intend to participate in Paris-2024 competitions must come to Riyadh, since this is the first of two mandatory qualifying competitions in which athletes must take part. Therefore, those who are not ready to perform at the tournament due to injury or other reason should come to the tournament and take part in the weigh-in.

The national team of Turkmenistan was preparing for the World Weightlifting Championships in Minsk, where training camps were held from August 9 to September 2.
