Recently, in Dashoguz velayat, the cultivation of garlic has occupied a strong niche among winter crops. This year, its plantings will again occupy 780 hectares of land. With a yield of 80 centners per hectare, local farmers intend to harvest 6,240 tons of important agricultural crops in the future.
The main producers of garlic in the region are Akdepe, Boldumsaz etraps and S. Turkmenbashy etrap, whose territory accounts for more than a third of the total area allocated in the region.
Last year's cultivation of this crop, which is not particularly demanding in cultivation and is highly adaptable to various weather conditions, in large volumes, was important for local farmers also in terms of observation and obtaining certain skills for the necessary experience.
It is clarified that the timing of planting, and, consequently, the timing of ripening largely depends on the specific climatic conditions of the region. Of considerable importance is what crops preceded the planting of garlic on the land plot.
When choosing a variety as a seed, it is important to take into account not only high yield and disease resistance, but also characteristics of shelf life and transportability.
The farmers of the velayat intend to saturate the country's consumer market with the future garlic harvest.
