Four medals were won by athletes of Turkmenistan on the first day of the international swimming tournament, which started in Dushanbe. Swimmers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan take part in the competitions timed to coincide with the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia and the next meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
In the women's 4x100 freestyle relay with one set of medals, the silver medalists as part of the united international team were Valeria Mirenskaya, a student of secondary school No. 15 in Ashgabat, and Ogulmerjen Nurayeva, an athlete of the Water Sports Federation of Turkmenistan. Together with them, two swimmers from Kazakhstan and Tajikistan rose to the podium.
It is noteworthy that both of our compatriots were also awarded two bronze awards. Valeria Mirenskaya achieved this success in the women's 50–meter butterfly, and Ogulmerjen Nurayeva in the women's 50-meter breaststroke.
Gurban Hommadov, a student of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports, won another bronze in the men's 200-meter breaststroke.
