The Turkmenistan team has won four more medals at the ongoing international swimming tournament in Dushanbe. Swimmers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan take part in the competitions timed to coincide with the Fifth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia and the next meeting of the Council of the Heads of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
The second competition day brought the first gold to our team. It was won in the 50-meter backstroke by Merdan Atayev, coach of the 14th sports School of the Main Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the city of Ashgabat.
Valeria Mirenskaya, a student of the 10th grade of secondary school №15 in Ashgabat, finished second at the same distance in backstroke swimming. The silver medal was also awarded to the athlete of the Water Sports Federation of Turkmenistan Ogulmerjen Nurayeva, who showed the second result in 100-meter breaststroke swimming.
In the mixed 4x100-meter freestyle relay, in which one set of medals was played, the silver medalists as part of the united international team were Roman Shabelnik, a student of the 11th grade of Ashgabat secondary school № 16, and Abdyrahman Agamyradov, an 11th grader of Ashgabat secondary school №51.
Merdan Atayev, Roman Shabelnik and Abdyrahman Agamyradov are improving their skills under the guidance of Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Sergey Epifanov, and Valeria Mirenskaya and Ogulmerjen Nurayeva are swimming under the guidance of the head coach of the national team of Turkmenistan Dmitry Novikov.
It should be recalled that on the first day of the competition, Turkmen swimmers also won four medals. These are one silver and three bronze.
