Representatives of the UAE visited the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan, where a seminar was held on the topic «Joint efforts of the United Arab Emirates and Turkmenistan to protect the environment through the implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy sources».
The seminar was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al Hameli, representatives of Masdar UAE, the faculty of the institute, researchers, graduate students and students of the institute.
During the seminar, presentations were made by the participants, who spoke in detail about the implementation of a number of Masdar projects in the world and the countries of Central Asia.
On the occasion of the visit of foreign guests and the seminar, a thematic exhibition was opened in the main building of the institute. It presented scientific project works prepared with the participation of professors, teachers, students of the institute, as well as exhibits from the institute’s museum collection.
The meeting at the country’s energy institute took place as part of a working visit of Masdar company representatives to Turkmenistan.
It should be noted that Masdar is a leader in the UAE and one of the fastest growing companies in the world in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development.
This area is given special attention in our country. Industry structures, research centers, and universities are doing a lot of work in the field of mastering and developing alternative energy sources.
The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan operates a research and production centre «Renewable Energy Sources», where research work is carried out in such areas as photoelectric converter technology; concentration of solar energy and solar technology; bioenergy and development of biomass production technologies; electrical energy storage technology, etc.
The institute is developing the scientific basis for the use of solar photovoltaic stations, projects for the use of solar energy in agriculture, conducting research on assessing solar energy resources, creating projects for biological complexes using renewable energy sources, and analyzing the technical characteristics of systems that accumulate electrical energy in local conditions, the features of wind power plants are studied, etc.
Training highly qualified specialists in the field of renewable energy is one of the priority tasks of an energy institute.
Regarding the partnership of Turkmenistan with the Masdar company, we note that in November last year, an agreement was signed between the State Energy Corporation of Turkmenistan «Turkmenenergo» and the Masdar company to develop a project for a solar photovoltaic installation with a capacity of 100 megawatts.
In general, relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE are dynamically developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, within the framework of authoritative regional and international organizations. Turkmen-Emirati relations are traditionally friendly and fruitful, acquiring new quality and content every year for the benefit of socio-economic development and well-being of the two states and peoples.
