The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana, proposed to prepare a Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the energy sector between the participating countries of the OTS.

Hero-Arkadag noted that, possessing rich oil and gas fields, Turkmenistan pursues a policy of reliable and safe energy exports to world markets, in particular, Turkmen natural gas and electricity are supplied to neighbouring countries and states in the region.

According to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, close cooperation has been established in this direction with the countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States.

As an example, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan currently sends its natural gas to neighboring and fraternal countries - Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

«At the same time, there are opportunities to transport Turkmen natural gas through the Caspian Sea to Azerbaijan, Türkiye, and in the future bring it to world markets. I am confident that in the very near future, together with our fraternal countries, all necessary issues will be resolved and relevant work will be carried out», –said Chairman Halk Maslahaty.

Speaking about the electric power industry, Hero-Arkadag noted that Turkmenistan exports electricity to the fraternal countries of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, and in the future it will be possible to supply electricity to Azerbaijan and Türkiye through the Caspian Sea.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that today on the Turkmen coast of the Caspian Sea near the city of Turkmenbashy, the foundation of a new modern power plant with a capacity of 1574 megawatts was laid.

«In general, we consider it appropriate to prepare a Roadmap for the development of cooperation in the energy sector among the member countries of the Organization of Turkic States to intensify and legally consolidate the ongoing joint activities», –Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
