The capital hosted today a Turkmen-Iranian business forum dedicated to further deepening and expanding the fruitful partnership between the two countries. The regular meeting of business circles, held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan, was timed to coincide with the ongoing Specialized Exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran "Iran Prože" in Ashgabat.

The agenda of the meeting included discussions on prospective areas of mutually beneficial partnership between the industrial sectors and business circles of Turkmenistan and Iran, in the context of the significant trade and economic potential of both countries, particularly in the fields of industry, oil and gas sector, construction and production of building materials, energy, trade, agriculture, and transportation.

The Iranian delegation consisted of heads and leading specialists of government agencies, entrepreneurship support organizations, as well as a number of major Iranian companies known for their developments in various fields, including high technology.

The Turkmen side was represented by heads of leading ministries and departments, members of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs - more than 80 companies, individual enterprises, and other private structures.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum, Minister of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehrdad Bazrpash emphasized the Iranian business circles' desire to further enhance productive ties with Turkmenistan, facilitated by regularly held joint economic forums and exhibitions, as well as delegation exchanges at various levels.

During the business forum, presentations were made on the possibilities of long-term cooperation, taking into account modern realities and mutual interests, as well as prospective joint projects in the fields of road construction, urban development, oil and gas and chemical industries. Trade and economic sphere, agriculture and other areas were also mentioned as priority areas for cooperation.

It was noted in the speeches of the Turkmen delegation that today Turkmenistan is a country with a dynamically developing economy, attractive for foreign investments. The key direction of the economic strategy implemented by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov is the course towards industrialization of the country, which includes the formation of modern transport and industrial infrastructure, as well as the establishment of large-scale innovative processing industries. To achieve this goal, significant investments are being made in the construction of new enterprises and the reconstruction of existing ones.

Among the discussed issues special attention was paid to the possibilities of activation of business relations at the level of small and medium business. As it was noted, this cooperation looks very promising given the pace of development of the non-state sector of Turkmenistan's economy.

Within the framework of the forum, meetings were held between representatives of various agencies and business circles of the two neighboring countries, during which new connections were established and relevant documents were signed.

At the conclusion of the forum, its participants expressed deep gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for providing the opportunity to hold a high-level meeting, during which there was an exchange of views on the existing economic potential and prospects for partnership between the two countries.
