The final preparations for the grand opening of the World Kurash Championship are being completed in Ashgabat. Read our material for everything you need to know about the upcoming world championship.
When will the opening ceremony take place?
The opening ceremony of the 14th World Kurash Wrestling Championship will take place on the 25th of November in the Olympic village of Ashgabat. Anyone can attend the event. Admission to the event is free.
Where will the competition take place?
The main competitions will be held at the Martial Arts Sports Complex of the Olympic Village. Start on the 27th of November.
Where can I buy tickets for the competition?
Tickets for the tournaments are sold at the box office on the territory of the Olympic Village. In the shopping center «Berkarar» (on the 1st floor) and the shopping centre «Ashgabat» (on the 2nd floor). The price of one ticket is 25 manat.
How and where to follow the competitions?
If you are not the lucky owner of a ticket to the Championship, then you can follow all the events on the National Television of Turkmenistan.
For the convenience of fans, a special link KURASH-2023 has been opened on the official website of the State Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of Turkmenistan, where the main events of the world championship will be covered. Also, a news feed with up-to-date information will be presented on website of the Office of the Olympic Village under the hakimlik of the city of Ashgabat.
In addition, LED screens designed for broadcasting sporting events are installed on the ground floor of the «Berkarar» shopping centre. There is also an original photo zone for fans and guests of the World Kurash Wrestling Championship.
Who will represent the national team of Turkmenistan?
The composition of the Turkmenistan national team was determined based on the results of qualifying competitions, in which the best masters of kurash took part.
The men's national team of Turkmenistan included: Vepa Ovlyakulyyev (weight category up to 60 kg), Dovlet Hemrakulyyev (up to 66 kg), Shatlyk Jumaniyazov (up to 73 kg), Dayanch Omirov (up to 81 kg), Sanjar Abdyrahmanov (up to 90 kg), Ruslan Esgerov (up to 100 kg) and Sapa Sapayev (over 100 kg).
In the women's category - Ayshirin Haydarova (up to 48 kg), Aynur Amanova (up to 52 kg), Gulshat Annayeva (up to 57 kg), Dinara Rozykulova (up to 63 kg), Maria Lohova (up to 70 kg), Sabina Kadyrova (up to 78 kg), Jahan Muhammedova (up to 87 kg) and Sabina Agajanova (over 87 kg).
Competition schedule:
On the 27th of November, competitions will be held in the following weight categories:
Men: -90 kg, -100 kg, +100 kg;
Women: -48 kg, -52 kg, -57kg, -63 kg, -70 kg.
Preliminary tour – from 10:00 to 13:00.
Semi-final – from 15:00 to 18:00.
Final – from 18:00 to 19:30.
On the 28th of November, competitions will continue in the following weight categories:
Men: -60 kg, -66 kg, -73 kg, -81 kg;
Women: -78 kg, -87 kg, +87 kg.
Preliminary tour – from 10:00 to 13:00.
Semi-final – from 15:00 to 18:00.
Final – from 18:00 to 19:30.
