As part of the 14th World Kurash Wrestling Championship, which started the day before in Ashgabat, international coaching and refereeing seminars were held in the Olympic village. The series of training events was opened by a seminar in the framework of the fight against doping, which was organized for the coaches of the participating teams by the International Testing Agency (ITA) with the participation of the National Anti-Doping Agency of Turkmenistan.
The International Testing Agency (ITA), headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, is an independent organization that implements anti-doping programs for international sports federations organizing major events in need of support. The organization was created in 2018 under the supervision of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and the International Olympic Committee to promote independence, expertise and transparency in the global fight against doping.
The seminar participants heard reports on the topics «Anti-doping and wrestling injuries», «Prohibited drugs for 2023 and 2024, protecting the health of athletes and testing substances used in sports». At the end of the sessions, questions of interest were answered.
In anticipation of the draw for the 2023 World Cup, theoretical and practical seminars aimed at improving the skills of coaches and referees were also held today. As the Kurash Federation of Turkmenistan reported, our country was represented at the coaching seminar by the head coaches of the men's and women's teams Dortguly Tejenov and Shirin Kubayeva, and at the refereeing seminar by Rejepbay Ashyrov, Feruddin Hudayberdiyev, Kuvvat Nuryyev and Ovez Atalyyev.
