Students from Turkmenistan successfully performed at the IV International Online Olympiad in Russian as a Foreign Language, organized by the Saint Petersburg State University. Students of the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi and the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly won 10 prize places.

Seven of them were awarded to students of the country's Higher Language School. Artem Klyuev, a student of the Higher Language School, was awarded the title of the winner of the Olympiad.

Maria Khanova, Diana Dallakyan, Arslan Mammedov and Angela Kurbanova got second places in the competition, while Aylar Cherkezova and Aygul Allanova took third places.

Students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University achieved three prize places. They were won by Altynai Myradova (I place), Lyale Rzagulyeva (II place) and Medine Sopytaganova (III place).

The Olympiad consisted of two rounds. Participants were given tasks on the vocabulary and grammar of the Russian language in a test format. The content of the Olympiad also included tasks on reading and listening, aimed at testing the students' ability to understand the main idea, plot and details of a read or heard text, as well as their ability to interpret it.

This year’s competition attracted 8,770 participants, which is 43% more than last year. Olympiads in Russian as a Foreign Language have been held annually by the university since 2018. More than 27,000 students from over 150 countries around the world have participated in the Olympiads over the period of time.

As noted on the website of the Russian university, the Olympiad provides participants with an opportunity to improve their proficiency in the Russian language, apply their knowledge from books in practice, demonstrate their preparation and abilities, and gain confidence in their skills. It also allows them to learn more about life in Russia, Russian culture and history.

In addition, the winners and prize recipients of the Olympiad receive additional points for admission to the St. Petersburg State University (SPbU), as well as a voucher for free participation in the state testing in Russian as a foreign language (TORFL) and other prizes from the leading university in Russia. Participants who pass the TORFL successfully are awarded an internationally recognized state certificate. This is the only official document confirming the level of proficiency in Russian language.

The organizers of the competition expressed confidence that the Olympiad not only helps students from different countries to test their knowledge but also brings positive emotions and opens up something new. Thanking everyone who studies the great language of Leo Tolstoy and Fyodor Dostoevsky, representatives of the St. Petersburg State University also emphasized that the Olympiad allows all participants to once again realize how rich, expressive and interesting the Russian language is.
