In Dashoguz velayat, livestock farming is one of the leading sectors of the agricultural sector. In recent years, with effective government support, the country's entrepreneurial corps has made a significant contribution to the further development of the industry, building new livestock farms. Therefore, the region pays special attention to properly providing farm animals with nutritious feed.
One of the effective and traditional grain and feed crops in this regard is corn. The green mass of this plant is widely used here as the most nutritious feed for cattle, and the grains are in demand on poultry farms. Therefore, local scientists and farmers are doing a lot of work to find and develop the most optimal technology for mass production of corn in local weather and climatic conditions, including the widespread use of water-saving irrigation methods in its cultivation.
«One of the economical and effective irrigation methods that interested us is irrigating corn using sprinklers that break the flow of water into small drops», –says the head of the Department of Plant Growing of the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, Candidate of Biological Sciences Bahar Yusupova. Acting as the main element in such an automatic irrigation system, the sprinkler ensures uniform distribution of water during irrigation and makes it productive and economical. In sprinkler irrigation, water is applied to an area and distributed through a system of pipes, then released into the air through spray heads and falling onto the soil surface in the form of droplets. Also, the team of our department is consistently working to develop recommendations for the effective protection of corn from various pests. Our task is to study ways to protect corn from pests using various methods, including treating plants at the initial stage of the growing season with special preparations.
It seems appropriate to add here that thanks to the accumulated cultivation experience and recommendations of scientists, good corn harvests are obtained annually in the Dashoguz velayat.
