From 14th of 15th of December, the international conference «Energy efficiency in Turkmenistan: Achieved successes and prospects» was held at the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by industry experts, specialized specialists in the field of energy policy from Turkmenistan, the European Union (EU), other Central Asian countries, interested representatives of international organizations and financial institutions, as well as teachers and students of the university.
During the conference, thematic presentations were made on the achievements of the domestic electric power industry, large-scale activities in the field of energy saving carried out in various sectors of the country's economy, and the necessity and significance of this work was emphasized.
In addition, the meeting participants exchanged valuable experience gained as a result of the implementation of targeted projects in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
It was emphasized that achieving energy security is among the top priorities in Turkmenistan, where ample opportunities have been created and there is significant potential for the development of a green economy and the use of renewable energy sources.
The conference was organized by the EU within the framework of the project «Sustainable Energy Connections in Central Asia (SECCA)» together with the UNDP project «Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Development of Green Cities in Ashgabat and Avaza» with the support of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the khyakimlik of Mary velayat.
The event took place as part of the Sustainable Energy Days 2023, aimed at expanding and deepening interaction between Turkmenistan and the EU, reviewing the achieved results of joint work, and further developing projects in relevant areas.
