A costume performance dedicated to the New Year 2024 was prepared by students of the Ashgabat ice school of the Winter Sports Sports Complex.

Organizing an ice show on the occasion of the main winter holiday has become a good tradition of Turkmen figure skaters who are determined to amaze, surprise, enchant and give a truly New Year's mood.

Sitting in the stands of the ice arena, the first spectators of the spectacular performance are immediately imbued with a winter fairy tale. The New Year's atmosphere reigns not only in the festive decoration of the hall and the carnival costumes of the performers, but also in the chilling coolness spreading along the entire perimeter of the ice surface.

However, with the appearance of Father Frost and the Snow Maiden in the arena, the atmosphere in the hall warms up, and the show begins. The program includes more than 40 bright solo and ensemble numbers performed by young skaters.

Actively replacing each other on the ice rink, the little figure skating stars do not let the audience get bored, setting a good pace for the festive performance. The cheerful Santa Claus also encourages the audience. And the highlight of the program is the joint dance of the Hare - the symbol of the outgoing year, and the Dragon - the symbol of the coming year.

«Our figure skating school employs seven coaches», says school director Andrey Ovezov. – Mentors work with their students on the technique of elements, engage in general physical training and choreography, which allows young athletes to take part in international competitions and achieve decent results. For example, in October of this year, 9 skaters from Turkmenistan were presented at the first club tournament Global Skating Academy in Tashkent, where they showed a high level of skating and won medals and prizes.

In many ways, the success of young figure skaters is achieved thanks to the conditions created by the government of the country for the development of winter sports and work with experienced coaches. Today, figure skaters studying with Karina Movsesyan, Yana Vahitova, Elina Karimova, Abat Muhammetniyazova, Elina Karimova and Zeynep Rejepova show their skills on the ice arena.

In addition to figure skating, youth interest in other winter sports is also growing.

Having joined the International Skating Union, the Turkmenistan short track team took part in the 2^nd Winter International Sports Games «Children of Asia-2023» in Kuzbass (Russia). As noted by the head coach of short track speed skating, Ayhan Gulamalyyeva, the Turkmenistan Short Track Speed Skating Championship and the National Open Championship have also been held to date. These major competitions made it possible to identify the leaders of domestic speed skating.

In addition, on the basis of the Ashgabat Winter Sports Palace there is a curling section. The juniors are coached by Sakina Gulamalyyeva. The athlete herself has come a long way from mastering figure skating to speed skating. Her spectacular and mesmerizing performances on ice can also be seen in the current holiday program.

For a wide audience, a large ice show of Turkmen figure skaters will be presented on the New Year's broadcast of national television.
