The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan hosted educational and methodological conferences dedicated to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

The events were attended by representatives of the teaching staff and students of the institute.

Joint meetings were organized by the Department of Applied Mechanics of the institute. One of them, titled "Peace and Trust are an Important Condition for the Development of International Cooperation," was dedicated to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). Participants presented a series of thematic reports, highlighting the role of Turkmenistan in the international community, positive and friendly relations with countries around the world based on common interests, principles of equality, peacefulness  and good neighborliness.

The institute held a conference "Turkmenistan: the Way to Achieve Sustainable Development Goals" on the theme of SDG 14 (Live Below Water). During the conference, speeches were delivered, addressing the causes and consequences of the destruction of marine ecosystems, as well as the importance of their preservation and the primary tasks set in this direction.

The Language Department of the institute organized an educational and methodical conference under the motto "Effective Institutions for Sustainable Development" dedicated to SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Participants emphasized the significance of educational campaigns and social events jointly conducted by the Turkmen side and international organizations.

The results and perspectives of activity development, further work plans in the field of UN SDG implementation were discussed during the conferences. The delegates highly appreciated the special contribution of Turkmen youth to the achievement of the SDGs, visible successes in this direction in the university and in the country as a whole.

The effectiveness of the measures and steps taken in the implementation of the SDGs is evidenced by the fact that this year, eight Turkmen universities have rightfully received high ratings from independent international experts of the British organization "Times Higher Education (THE)" and confidently entered the global THE Impact Rankings-2023, which evaluates universities worldwide in terms of achieving the 17 SDGs. The State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan is among the top higher education institutions in Turkmenistan in the prestigious ranking.

It is worth noting that in 2023, about 1,600 higher education institutions from 112 countries around the world became participants of the THE Impact Rankings.

One of the priority directions of Turkmenistan's foreign policy is to provide maximum assistance in ensuring global peace, stability and security on the planet, including the consistent achievement of the 17 SDGs formulated by the United Nations, which have significant global importance and are aimed at improving the level of social and economic development in countries worldwide.
